Chapter 3.FORTRAN STATEMENTSThis section describes each of the <strong>Fortran</strong> statements supported by the <strong>PGI</strong> <strong>Fortran</strong> compilers.Each description includes a brief summary of the statement, a syntax description, a completedescription and an example. <strong>The</strong> statements are listed in alphabetical order. <strong>The</strong> first section liststerms that are used throughout the section.3.1. Statement Format OverviewThis section lists terms that are used throughout the section and provides information on howto interpret the information in the statement descriptions. This section only provides detaileddescriptions for statements that are extensions of the standard <strong>Fortran</strong> language definitions. Fordetails on the standard statements, refer to the <strong>Fortran</strong> language specifications readily availableon the internet. <strong>The</strong> Origin column in the tables in this section provides the <strong>Fortran</strong> languageorigin of the statement; for example F95 indicates the statement is from <strong>Fortran</strong> 95.3.1.1. Definition of Statement-related Termscharacter scalar memory referenceis a character variable, a character array element, or a character member of a structure orderived type.integer scalar memory referenceis an integer variable, an integer array element, or an integer member of a structure or derivedtype.logical scalar memory referenceis a logical variable, a logical array element, or a logical member of a structure or derivedtype.obsolescent<strong>The</strong> statement is unchanged from the FORTRAN 77 definition but has a better replacement in<strong>Fortran</strong> 95.3.1.2.
