<strong>Club</strong> <strong>Information</strong>The Porcelain <strong>Club</strong> is pleased to announce that we arefortunate to have Carole Beck join our club. She isavailable each Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00p.m. to teach our members to paint porcelain items usingChina paints. She works with members together as agroup and individually to teach painting techniques to ourmembers. We urge all interested residents to join us as weapproach an exciting and important election season. As always, newmembers are welcome. Stop in one Friday, introduceyourself and play a few games. You’ll find people friendlyand helpful and, before you know it, you’ll be asaddicted to playing as we are.To improve your Scrabble skills, learn the 96 two-letterwords. There are also the three-letter words that can beformed by adding a letter at the front or back of atwo-letter word. Ya can become pya, rya, or yah, yak, yam,yap and so it goes.The Scrabble “Word of the Day” is QUINOA. A quinoa isa weedy plant.Now for some Scrabble trivia: The combined total facepoint value of all 100 tiles combined is 187 points. Bytaking advantage of the “hot spots” or bonus squares onthe Scrabble board, players can increase their scoresexponentially. One can readily see why the placement oftiles is so important to enhance one’s score as gamescan reach over 500 points.Scrabble is a real word meaning “to scratch frantically.”The game of Scrabble, not scratching frantically, is a greatway to keep your mind active and healthy and have fundoing it.
