Even small items, such asdrawers, cabinets or cutting boards will enhance theaesthetic value and livability of your home. And they areinexpensive and fun to build. For new members, there is an abundance of help availablein the shop. Sometimes the help is solicited and sometimesit's not, but the advice is always well-intentioned andfriendly, thereby helping new members meld good ideaswith their own intended ways of accomplishing their tasksto make their projects the best possible. Anytime aseasoned member visits with a newer member, theirintention is to impart a tip or technique in as short a timeas possible because the newer member only has a limitedamount of shop time to complete their project. If a moredetailed explanation on a certain way to build a project isdesired, any member can request time from a mentor.Members are always happy to share techniques with othermembers, which is the essence of a good club.Woodchips’ membership is open to all SCA residents foronly $25.00 a year. After mandatory safety training, youwill be on your way as a woodworker. Our shop, which islocated at the rear of Independence Center, is openMonday, Tuesday and Wednesday for member trainingand shop projects; and Thursday through Saturday,9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for general member use. Check theWoodchips‘ website at: www.scawoodchips.org forinformation on the club and pictures of many of ourmembers’ projects.
