You must still design and perform the necessarylegacy rituals and pay the associated costs if youwish to use these newfound abilities.Learn <strong>Legacy</strong>: You instantly gainthe knowledge <strong>of</strong> the next legacy ritualrequired to continueunlocking your item’sabilities, as if you hadsucceeded on the requiredKnowledge(history) check. Inaddition, when performingthat ritual,you do not pay the gpcost <strong>of</strong> raw materials(although you mustcomplete any otherrequired tasks). Afterthirty days, the knowledgeis lost; you must makethe requisite Knowledgecheck and spend thenormal gp cost to learn andperform the ritual as normal.<strong>Legacy</strong> Bonus: You are granted an inspiration,which takes the form <strong>of</strong> a “floating” +10bonus available for the next 1 minute (10 rounds).At any point during this time as an immediateaction (see the sidebar on page15), you can apply this bonusto a single attack roll, savingthrow, skill or ability check, orcaster level check.<strong>Legacy</strong> Healing: You regain hit points equal t<strong>of</strong>ive times the character level <strong>of</strong> the defeated foe. YouThe winner <strong>of</strong> a contest between legacy items gainssome <strong>of</strong> the defeated item’s poweralso recover all ability damage, whether temporaryor permanent. You can’t gain more hit points thanyour normal maximum.Master <strong>Legacy</strong>: You are treated as onelevel higher for the purpose <strong>of</strong> accessingyour item’s legacy abilities, as if you had theMaster <strong>Legacy</strong> feat (see page 15). The effect <strong>of</strong>this gift stacks with that <strong>of</strong> the feat but lasts foronly 24 hours.Psionic Energy: You gain temporary powerpoints equal to the level <strong>of</strong> the defeatedfoe. These extrapower points last untilused or until 24 hourselapse, whichever occursfirst.Spell Energy:You recall one spellthat you have castduring the past 24hours. The spellmust have been actuallycast duringthat period. Therecalled spell isstored in your mindas though prepared inthe normal fashion.If the recalledspell requires materialcomponents, youmust provide them. If you donot prepare spells to cast them,you instead regain one spell slot. The maximumlevel <strong>of</strong> spell restored is equal to half the characterlevel <strong>of</strong> the defeated foe (maximum 9th).12
