UNHCR offices reportedthat approximately one-thirdwas living either dispersed (33%), incamps (30%), or in an individual type ofaccommodation (29%). Collective centersand settlements were the least oftenreported types of accommodation ofrefugees (4 per cent each).Refugee camps and settlements weremainly found in rural areas, whereasindividual accommodation was the prevailingtype of residence in urban areas.Almost half of all refugees residingin camps were located in sub-SaharanAfrica, with another 43 per cent locatedin Asia. There was no difference in theuse of accommodation types by maleand female refugees.
