Drain outexcess water as soon as possible.‣ In some areas of New Alluvial Zone of West Bengal, infestation of gandhi bug is reported in aus rice.Apply Malathion or Dichlorovos @ 1 ml per litre of water, if the infestation is more. In jute grown for seedand late sown crops, attack of Bihar hairy caterpillar and semi-looper may be prevalent. For both insects,apply 1.5 ml Endosulphan per litre of water.‣ In this weather condition, in New Alluvial Zone of West Bengal, combined attack of downy mildew andmosaic may be seen in bitter gourd and pointed gourd; apply Redomil –MZ @ 2 g per litre of water.‣ In this weather condition in Terai Zone of West Bengal, if die back appears in chilli, spray the crop withPropiconazole @ 1 ml to litre of water or Blitox 4 g to litre of water. In this weather condition Phytophthoramay be a problem in betel vine; spray Mancozeb 64% + Matalaxyl 8% @ 1.5 g to litre of water.‣ Undertake plant protection measures after current spells of rain.‣ Stages of major crops are mentioned in Annexure I.Animal Husbandry‣ During this monsoon season there is a chance of black-quarter in Coastal Saline Zone of West Bengal; keepthe cattle clean and if this disease occur, promptly give penicillin and tetracycline and inoculate into the siteof lesion. Cattle may also be attacked by worm infection. Give medicine after testing the stool and prohibitgrazing in the field, keeping them under shade.NORTHEAST INDIA [ARUNACHAL PRADESH, NMM&T, ASSAM, MEGHALAYA]• Sugarcane (active vegetative), ahu rice (ripening to grain formation), sali rice (seedling to transplanting),olitorius jute (maturity to harvesting), groundnut (sowing to vegetative), arhar, pigeon pea, sesame, cauliflower(early variety) and jute (for seed production) (sowing to early vegetative), ginger to turmeric (vegetative),black to green gram (sowing to vegetative), banana (planting), cowpea (sowing to vegetative), and khasimandarin (sowing to vegetative) in Assam.• Rice (nursery preparation to transplanting to vegetative), vegetables like sponge gourd, ash gourd, pumpkin,cucumber etc. (vegetative to harvesting) and maize (tasseling to maturity) in Arunachal Pradesh.• Soyabean (vegetative to flowering), groundnut (flowering to pod formation), kharif rice (transplanting totillering), ginger and turmeric (vegetative to rhizome formation), early cauliflower (transplanting) lemon(fruiting to harvesting) in Manipur.• Rice (transplanting to vegetative to tillering), kharif maize (tasseling to silking to cob formation), groundnut,soyabean (vegetative), okra (sowing to vegetative), ginger and turmeric (planting to vegetative), khasimandarin (fruit bearing to new planting), French Bean, rice bean, urd, moong bean (vegetative to flowering topod formation), banana (vegetative), cucurbits (sowing to vegetative) in Mizoram.• Aus or kharif rice (tillering to flowering), aman rice (transplanting to early tillering), cucurbits and othervegetables (flowering to fruiting), maize (tasseling to cob formation) and sesame (vegetative to pod formation)in Tripura.• Ahu rice (panicle initiation to flowering to grain filling), arhar (sowing to vegetative), vegetables (vegetative to
flowering to fruiting to maturity), sali rice (transplanting to tillering), early cauliflower, cabbage(transplanting), ginger and turmeric (vegetative), Khasi mandarin (flowering to fruiting), banana (vegetative)in Meghalaya.• Soyabean, groundnut, green gram and black gram (sowing to vegetative), maize (tasseling to silking to cobformation), okra (flowering to fruiting), lowland rice (transplanting), banana (fruiting), colocasia (flowering)and papaya (transplanting) in Nagaland.• Advisory‣ Postponed intercultural operations and application of fertilizer and plant protection measures and alsoarrange for adequate drainage facilities to the standing crops to avoid stagnation of water.‣ In Assam, completed sowing of groundnut, sesame, pulses, pigeon pea, arhar, cauliflower (earlyvarieties), radish and jute (for seed production), nursery sowing of sali rice and planting of banana andpine apple. Taken the advantage of adequate rain, prepared the land and undertaken transplanting of salirice if the seedlings are ready.‣ In flood affected areas in Lower Bramhaputra Valley Zone in Assam, raised nursery seedlings in floodfree area or high lands and transplant at a convenient time.‣ In Manipur, for flooded areas, contingency nurseries with late variety to cold tolerant variety RC Maniphou 7 maybe raised.‣ In Tripura are undertaken preparation of main field and transplanting of aman rice, if the seedlings arealready ready.‣ In Arunachal Pradesh are advised to undertake nursery sowing of rice. If the seedlings are already ready,farmers are advised to undertake preparation of main field and transplanting of rice.‣ In Mid Tropical Hill Zone in Nagaland are advised to complete sowing of groundnut, soyabean, pulsesand prepare nurseries for rice crop.‣ Suitable varieties of the crops for sowing or transplanting are mentioned in Annexure II.‣ Present situation of alternate drying and wetting condition may favour the occurrence of rotting of leavesand stems of beetle vine and quick wilt of black pepper in Central Brahamaputra zone in Assam.Prophylactic application of Bordeaux mixture may prevent the spread to outbreak of the diseases.‣ There is chance of occurrence of blast disease in sali rice in Barak Valley Zone in Assam; farmers areadvised to apply Bavistin @ 1 g to litre or Hinosan @ 1 ml to litre of water.‣ In Hill Zone of Assam, there is chance of infestation of rice hispa where the crops are at tillering stage;farmers are advised to monitor the crop and spray Quinolphos @ 2 teaspoonful to 5 litres of water tocontrol the attack.‣ In Mizoram, there is chance of infestation of pests on rice due to substantial increase in minimumtemperature and evening humidity and an appreciable decrease in sunshine hours with occasional rainfall;farmers are advised to monitor the crop and undertake appropriate plant protection measures. Also, due toprevailing weather conditions, there is chance of incidence of gummosis on Khasi Mandarin; farmers areadvised to scrap the diseased portion and apply Bordeaux paste. Adopt prompt measures to drain outexcess rain water from the orchard.‣ Due to hot and humid conditions and high wind speed, there is also chance of sigatoka leaf spot onbanana in Mizoram; farmers are advised to apply mancozeb @ 0.01%. There is also chance of attack ofmaize borer on maize crop; farmers are advised to uproot the borer affected plants and burry them andspray the crops with 80 ml Decis 2.8 EC in 60 litres of water per acre.‣ In Mild Tropical Plain Zone of Tripura, due to the prevailing humid weather, there is chance of attack ofgundhi bug in upland rice; farmers are advised to spray Imidachloprid @ 1.5 ml per liter of water.‣ In Manipur, there is chance of blast, bacterial leaf blight, sheath blight, leaf folder and stem rot on rice.Farmers are advised to spray Tricyclazole 75WP @ 0.6 g to litre water or Ediphenphos 50 EC @ 1 ml tolitre water or Propiconazole 25 EC @ 1 ml to litre water or Carbendazim 50 WP @ 1 g to litre water forblast, spray with 250 ppm of Agrimycin100 for bacterial leaf blight, Validamycin @ 2 ml to litre of waterfor sheath blight, Cartap granules 4G @ 15 kg to ha or Cartap spray @ 600 ml to litre of water for leaffloder and Validamycin 3 L @ 2.5 ml to litre or Thiophanate methyl 75 WP @ 1 g to litre of water forstem rot. There is a chance of attack of powdery mildew in lemon; farmers are advised to spray Bayleton@ 7 g to 15 litres of water.‣ In Ri-Bhoi, East Khasi and West Khasi hill districts of Meghalaya, there is chance of occurrence of blastin rice; farmers are advised to spray Carbendazim @ 1-1.5 g to litre of water.
