7 Checking the overtemperature limits inside ArTuswitchgear7.3 Checking procedureIncoming and outgoing switchgear cablesThe power dissipated by the pieces of cable which enter the switchgear must be countedseparately. In some cases, the variability in length of these pieces causes their power to be negligible, whereas in others it is decisive for correct calculation of the dissipated power inside theswitchgear. The power dissipated by them can be calculated by means of the following relation:2IP (I b ) = P (I n )(b. LI n)piece. 3Where:P (I n) is the dissipated power per unit of length at the rated current and the its value canbe taken from table B1 of the IEC 60890 Standard given below, or from the manufacturer’scatalogues.(L piece. 3) is the length of the piece of cable inside the switchgear or of the column beingexamined, multiplied by 3 as it is a three-phase circuit. This length can be calculatedapproximately by inspecting the front of the switchgear.Table B1 of the IEC 60890 Standard was used for the calculations in this document, consideringan air temperature of 55°C around the cable.Operating current and dissipated powers of the insulated conductorsCrosssection(Cu)Maximum admissible temperature of the conductor: 70 °C(1)d d d dAir temperature around the conductors inside the housingGENERALSTANDARDS ANDCHARACTERISTICSVERIFYING THEOVERTEMPERATURESPROTECTION AGAINSTSHORT-CIRCUIT ANDELECTRIC SHOCKSoperating current35 °C 55 °C 35 °C 55 °C 35 °C 55 °Cdissipatedpowers (2)mm 2 A W/m A W/m A W/m A W/m A W/m A W/m1,52,546101625355070951201501852403001217222838522,12,52,62,83,03,7operating current81114182534dissipatedpowers (2)0,91,11,11,21,31,6operating current12202532486485104130161192226275295347400dissipatedpowers (2)2,13,53,43,74,85,66,37,57,98,48,79,611,710,912,013,2812182331425567851051251471671912252600,91,31,81,92,02,42,63,13,43,63,74,14,34,65,05,6122025325065851151501752252502753504004602,13,53,43,75,25,86,37,910,59,911,911,711,715,415,917,5(1) Each desired layout, with the specific values, refers to a group of conductors gathered together in a bundle (sixconductors loaded at 100%)(2) Single lengthoperating currentdissipatedpowers (2)operating currentdissipatedpowers (2)operating current812202532506585115149175210239273322371dissipatedpowers (2)0,91,32,22,32,13,43,75,06,27,27,28,38,89,410,311,4PRACTICAL INDICATIONSCERTIFICATION ANDCONSTRUCTIONCERTIFICATESDECLARATION OFCONFORMITYABB SACE Guide to Construction of ArTu switchgear 21
