Present a 2.75+ cumulative un-weighted high school GPA upon graduation from high schoolAND either score a 900+ on the SAT OR score a 19+ on the ACT.Submit the $250 confirmation deposit.Complete the VTAG application for Virginia residents and complete the FAFSA each year.Maintain full-time continuous enrollment in the <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> resident, undergraduateprogram for at least eight consecutive Fall and Spring semesters.Maintain sufficient satisfactory academic progress to maintain <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> enrollment.Timely pay the percentage of tuition balance (if any), all applicable non-tuition fees incurred (ex.technology, activity, transportation, auto, class, etc.) and any room and board charges.Be and remain in good standing with regard to conduct at LCA.Be and remain financially current with their LCA account.Live in an on campus residence hall for their first academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) ofenrollment at <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>. <strong>Scholarship</strong> Award Amount: For students who first enroll or re-enroll at LCA after January 24, 2012, thescholarship award amount is based on the number of grade years the student completes at LCA prior totheir LCA graduation. The student earns a scholarship award of 10% remaining tuition costs for eachgrade year completed at LCA. The scholarship percentage is applied to tuition costs after subtractingthe Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant and Virginia TuitionAssistance Grant awards from the total cost of tuition.Please see the following examples of LCA graduates for the Category 3 award:1. New kindergarten student that attends through graduation: 10% X 13 grades at LCA = 100%scholarship*2. New 3 rd grade student that attends through graduation: 10% X 10 years at LCA = 100%scholarship3. Otherwise, 90% isthe maximum award.Other Frequently Asked QuestionsAre there any restrictions on how the <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>/<strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> scholarship can beused?The <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>/LCA scholarship can be utilized for eight consecutive semesters of enrollment(approximately 128 total credit hours) at <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> after graduation from LCA. The student mustdirectly enroll the following fall semester into a <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> undergraduate resident degreeprogram. No audits will be covered by the scholarship. The scholarship can be used only in the Fall andSpring semesters; however, students may apply in advance to the financial aid office for a waiver so thescholarship can cover tuition costs for summer internships in their academic program. The scholarshipcannot be used to cover any fees (i.e. technology fees, activity fees, transportation fees, class fees,vehicle registration fees, parking tickets, book fees, meal plans, etc.). Can the LCA scholarship be combined with any other <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> scholarships?No. The LCA scholarship is not considered stackable, and therefore cannot be combined, with any other<strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> scholarships including New Student Book Dollars. It can be combined withscholarships funded from outside of <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> and combined with loans from any source.Am I required to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Virginia TuitionAssistance Grant (VTAG) to receive the LCA scholarship?Yes. In order to receive a scholarship at <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>, all students must timely complete the FreeApplication for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Virginia residents are also required to completethe VTAG application (currently a one-time application).Am I required to submit the $250 Confirmation Deposit?Yes. All students must place the $250 Confirmation Deposit at the beginning of the enrollment process.This payment will be credited towards the student’s account. The $250 Confirmation Deposit may berefunded on if the request is in writing and received by May 1 of the student’s senior year of highschool. Can I use the LCA scholarship as a part-time or online student at <strong>Liberty</strong>?No. LCA scholarship recipients must be enrolled at <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> as a full-time residential student.Full-time status consists of 12 or more credit hours each semester. The scholarship cannot be appliedtoward <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> Online credit hours unless a waiver is granted from the Financial Aid Office.How long can the LCA scholarship be utilized at <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>?The LCA scholarship is limited to a maximum of eight consecutive semesters of enrollment in the Falland Spring terms only. If a student breaks enrollment at <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> for any reason, the studentwill forfeit the remaining LCA scholarship for which he or she was originally eligible. If a student isplaced on disciplinary probation or is suspended, completes a withdrawal, or is dismissed for anyreason, the <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>/<strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> scholarship is subject to reduction or removalat the discretion of <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>. For scholarship students entering <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong> in the Fall of2016 and thereafter, failure to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 for two semesters in a row (excludingsummer semesters) will result in loss of continuing eligibility to use the scholarship until the minimumGPA of 2.50 is restored.Why are scholarship students starting in 2016 required to live on campus as freshman and notpermitted to live with their parents in Lynchburg as was previously allowed?Students who do not live on campus are less likely to stay enrolled and graduate from <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>.Our research demonstrates that students who immerse themselves in <strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s campusculture, including the convocations, the student life, the recreational offerings and the residential hallrelationships, have a greater change for succeeding at <strong>Liberty</strong>. Students in residence halls are prayed fordaily and have an accountability structure to help keep them on task. Retention and graduation ratesare superior for students who live on campus their first year of college. This residency requirement isbeing phased in so that by the Fall of 2016, it is expected to generally apply to all entering <strong>Liberty</strong>students under 21 years of age who are not married. Families may apply for student loans if they areunable to afford the two semesters of on campus housing. If this requirement presents a non-financialhardship, appeals for waivers will be considered if submitted to admissions by June 1 of the student’ssenior year of high school. Appeals must be submitted with documentation from third partyprofessionals supporting the hardship.
