CHUCK & JEANNE MILLHUFFC O N T I N U E Dtell you that a cherished honorhas been the opportunity toserve as Revivalism Coordinatorfor Nazarene evangelists from2002 to 2009. Of special significancehas been the opportunityto attend the General Assemblyas a delegate on three occasions. He continues to carry a heartbreakingconcern for the cause ofrevivals and renewal for not onlythe church but for the men andwomen who fill the biblical officeof evangelist. The Millhuffs are like manyof you. We have lived with upsand downs, pinnacle momentsand setbacks, great unansweredquestions as well as the certaintiesof the faith. Illness and losshave dogged our steps at times.Difficult decisions and sometimeserrors in judgment have thrownus desperately to our knees tocall on the touch of God. Thatis the secret to finding our way.Looking back over the years, itis plain to see that this is a storywritten by God. ★*Paul Cunningham, General SuperintendentEmeritus, Church of theNazarene.Jeanne Millhuff, Professor Emeritus,MidAmerica Nazarene University.TRIBUTESEvangelist Chuck Millhuffwas cut from a single pattern ofcloth. That pattern was based on2 Tim. 4:5 where St. Paul counseledTimothy to "do the work ofan evangelist." From his studentdays in Olivet Nazarene College(now University) until this veryhour, Chuck Millhuff has faithfullyfulfilled his own calling to "do thework of an evangelist." Mind you, that pattern left plenty of room fororiginality, innovation, and creativity.Chuck is one of many who havegiven personality and expressionto evangelism in the Church of theNazarene. On the cutting edge ofevangelism in city-wide crusades, toglobe-trekking ministry in the fourcorners of the earth, Chuck refusedto allow his ministry to be limitedby the shackles of mediocrity. Hisexpressive communication wasaugmented by his love of music andsong writing. Who can forget "CyrusHampton," or "The Brush?" Neverone to settle in the long ruts of theordinary, Chuck blazed a wide pathas an evangelist. Clearly, he hasdone the work of an evangelist asa soul winner and preacher. Mostimportantly, he has passionatelyfollowed our Lord in both his callingand his personal life.J. K. WarrickGeneral SuperintendentI can never forget my firstencounter with this compellingspokesperson for God! He challengedthe students to consecratetheir lives to Christ and to also raisemoney to help Bethany NazareneCollege survive through a verydifficult financial crisis. Chuck hasalways issued a clarion call for holyliving and at the same time challengedus to relate in love to thelost. I cherish the story of Dr. Milhuffdelivering his wife's fresh homemadepies to their gay neighborsas he built grace-friendships withthem. We celebrate his passionatevoice for projecting the messageof heart-holiness while being opento new methods to deliver thatmessage. We deeply appreciate hisexceptional service to the Churchas spokesperson and advocate forthe God-called evangelists. ChuckMillhuff has inspired and touchedus all with his Christ glorifying lifeand ministry!Dr. Jerry PorterGeneral Superintendent10 / EVANGELISTS' PERSPECTIVE / Fall 2011
