FORWARDThis handbook was developed to serve as a useful guide for procedures to follow inspecific situations. The items included herein are derived from policies established bythe School Board of Miami-Dade County and from the unique needs of Miami LakesEducational Center and its off-campus extensions.It is the responsibility of each member of the staff to become familiar with these policiesand to implement them as appropriate. Also, if each member of this staffconscientiously accepts responsibility for following the procedures enumerated in thishandbook, it will enhance our efforts to serve the needs of the students we strive toserve.The policies and procedures contained in this handbook are intended to assist the staffrather than set arbitrary limitations. Additionally, they should serve as a reference forpersonnel in the appropriate operation of the school and off-campus satellite programs.The Miami Lakes Educational Center Faculty and Staff handbook can be accessed fromthe school’s website.
