All post-secondary students must be notified when it is apparent that the student is performingunsatisfactorily in any program. A student conference should serve as the primary means ofcommunicating student progress and achievement of the standards. If improvement is not seen, acounseling referral should be submitted to student services.An individual progress chart listing the specific competencies of your program must be maintained for eachof the students. These charts must be up to date with a letter grade or competencies completed and kepton file in the student's folder.KEYSInstructors are not permitted to have Master Keys. This is a M-DCPS policy. If you possess anunauthorized general master key, you may be held liable for missing equipment, etc.Keys will be issued and collected by authorized personnel at the beginning and at the end of the schoolyear. Lost or misplaced keys are to be reported to the administration immediately. Under nocircumstances are students to be given classroom keys or keys to any other area of our facility.LESSON PLANSLesson planning is an essential teaching tool which is necessary for the evaluation process of allinstructional personnel. The principal or supervising administrator has the authority to determine whether ornot instructional objectives and related course content are consistent with the educational policies andinstructional guidelines established by the school district. The program administrator or department headwill be available to assist with lesson plans when necessary. In accordance with Article XI of the UTD/M-DCPS contract.PERSONAL LEAVE, SICK LEAVE, ETC.If administrators or instructional personnel are to be absent from the work location it will be necessary forthem to request the appropriate leave. Their leave must be classified as one of the following:1. Temporary duty 5. Sick leave2. Professional leave 6. Vacation leave3. Leave without pay 7. Sabbatical leave4. Personal leave 8. Leave of absenceTemporary Duty. Temporary duty, means the employee is reporting to a work location within the <strong>Miami</strong>-<strong>Dade</strong> County Public School System other than <strong>Miami</strong> <strong>Lakes</strong> <strong>Educational</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. This type of leave mustbe supported with a memorandum from the supervising administrator or a member of the District orregional staff requesting such leave.Professional Leave. Professional leave should be used when an employee finds it necessary to be awayfrom his or her assigned duties at the <strong>Center</strong> to participate in schedule professional activities either at oraway from the <strong>Center</strong>, within or outside of the School District. Whenever it becomes necessary for theemployee to take a professional leave, a memorandum from the supervising administrator must be directedto the <strong>Center</strong>'s principal outlining the activity the employee wants to attend and requesting approval forattendance. Appropriate documentation announcing the activity and listing all necessary fees and other1-6
