Why do you think this?The house looks like it would be made of some sort of stucco, and appears like it would berough to the touch. The trees are without leaves and the branches appear like they would besharp or scratchy. The grass looks dead and dry, and so would be rough to the touch.SPACE: The area between and around objects. What do you see in the photograph by Aaron Falkenberg?Space is the three-dimensionality of an object. Space in a two-dimensional drawing or paintingor photograph refers to the arrangement of objects on the picture plane. In this photograph wesee a landcape. We see a number of hay bales,a hay field, and a very dark stormy sky.Describe the materials and techniques. Describe how the space is created in thisphotograph? What are the areas within the work that create a sense of space.Space is created in this image using perspective. This is the technique used to have your picturelook like it is moving into the distance. Within the photograph depth is created in a number ofways. There is a definate foreground which is the area that appears closest to the viewer. This isshown by the large hay bale close to the bottom of the picture plane. Other bales that are seenare much smaller in size and so are much farther away.How does your eye travel through this landscape? Describe how the contrast of light anddark help us envision this space.Because of its size and the light shining on it, we notice the large hay bale first. The dark lines tothe left of the bale direct our eye straight back to the very dark area of sky on the horizon.
