A Letter from the PastorDear Parishioners,When I first arrived as Pastor in 2005, I was astounded by the number ofministries and organizations at Saint James Church. As a EucharisticCommunity, we view faith as something that involves the entire person, not justthe soul. Accordingly, in addition to Liturgical Ministries, we have groups that areoriented toward a deepening understanding of the Scriptures. Many of ourparishioners are involved in learning to lead a more fruitful prayer life andexploring Catholic spirituality. And since we engage in all activities not onlywith our souls and our minds, but also with our bodies, there are severalorganizations which are service oriented. In a word, Saint James Church is a bigparish with an even bigger heart.It is obvious to me that the people of this faith community do not limittheir time here to worship alone; rather, there is a concerted effort amongthese incarnate spirits to make known what they believe once they leave thenave of the church. It is my hope, then, that as you peruse the pages of thishandbook, you will feel comfortable enough to call a contact person of a particularministry or organization and, even better, to sit in on meetings of the groupswhich most interest you. The time, talent and treasure that you bring will, nodoubt, make our parish family even better than it already is.If discipleship of the Lord Jesus is to lead us to build the Kingdom of God byword and deed, then, surely, we must all commit ourselves, body, mind andsoul, to begin here, in Bernards Township, where the call to make known theLove of God is just as great as it is in the poorest areas of the world. Let usmake known God’s Love, manifest in the person of Jesus—and let us do itnow!Read this booklet with fervor. Discover a ministry which appeals to youwith zeal.
