Prior to formingRAINBIRD Consulting, he spent nearly a decade asPresident and CEO of TRLabs. Under his leadership,TRLabs became Canada’s leading researchconsortium in information and communicationstechnology and is now internationally recognized asa leading model for industry-university-governmentcollaboration. Prior to TRLabs Glenn’s career includedsenior executive responsibilities with Imperial Oil andNortel Networks.Mr. Rainbird also serves on a number of additionalboards and committees, including the Greater<strong>Edmonton</strong> Competitiveness Strategy StewardshipCommittee (co-chair), the Alberta Science andResearch Authority, Industry Canada’sCommunications Research Centre, and advisoryboards for the schools of business at Queen's andRoyal Roads universities. In its Millennium edition,Alberta Venture magazine named Mr. Rainbird one ofAlberta’s fifty most influential people. He holds aB.Sc. in Civil Engineering and an MBA, both fromQueen’s University.Margaret Bateman, Vice-Chairman(term began January 1, 2002)Ms. Bateman is a founding partner of CalderBateman, an Alberta based, full servicecommunications agency, serving a broad range ofpublic and private sector clients throughout Albertaand Western Canada. A graduate of Loyola Collegewith a Bachelor of Arts degree, her practice focuseson major public issues in such areas as healthrestructuring, education, municipal governance, theresource industry and economic development.Ms. Bateman’s career in communications and publicaffairs began at Imperial Oil, with subsequent servicein senior executive positions with the AlbertaHousing Corporation and the Alberta Public AffairsBureau, where she was responsible for the provincialgovernment’s advertising, public affairs and relatedfunctions across 25 provincial governmentdepartments. She has been a regular contributor tothe Globe & Mail and CBC-TV news, commentating onpublic affairs in Alberta. Ms. Bateman also serves onseveral boards including the <strong>Edmonton</strong> Art Gallery,the <strong>Edmonton</strong> <strong>2001</strong> Athletics Legacy Foundation,and the Augustana University College in Camrose.Enzo J. BarichelloMr. Barichello is a partner in theCorporate/Commercial department of the nationallaw firm Bennett Jones. He has built a diversepractice, acting for electrical power and gas utilities,major real estate developers, forestry companies,telecommunications companies, oil and gascorporations, chartered banks and smallercommercial enterprises and individuals.Mr. Barichello has lectured at Alberta Bar Admissioncourses for several years in the area of drafting andnegotiating commercial leases and at the Faculty ofExtension at the University of Alberta. He has servedas a director on a number of Alberta privatecompanies and industry associations. He is amember of the <strong>Edmonton</strong> Chamber of Commerce,the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian BarAssociation.23
