She holds a Bachelors of Music Educationfrom the State University of New York at Fredoniaand a Masters of Music Education from Ithaca College,both with a major in piano. She is in charge of the MiddleSchool Piano Lab and is the founder of the Music forLittle Mozarts program at KCD. For four years, Mrs. Arytaught music at the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Institute for Arts in Education, a graduate levelclass offered by the University of Louisville, held at the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Center. Thispast summer, Mrs. Ary had the privilege of studying with the Royal OperaHouse, Covent Garden.Dr. Louie L. Bailey is Choral Accompanist/Assistant at<strong>Kentucky</strong> <strong>Country</strong> <strong>Day</strong> School, Organist/Minister ofMusic at Crescent Hill Baptist Church, Music Directorat The Temple Adath Israel Brith Sholom, Choral Conductorat the Highlands Latin School, Conductor of theLouisville Youth Choir Chorale, Accompanist for the OratorioChorus at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,and teaches piano, voice, and organ privately. He holds the Bachelor of Musicdegree from Georgia State University in piano and music education and theMaster of Church Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from SouthernSeminary in voice, organ, music education, and music theory. His studentshave won many honors, including one who won a Grammy and many who areinvolved in music professionally.LuAnn Hayes earned a B.A. in music education and elementaryeducation from Albion College and received herM.S. in music education from the University of Illinois.In addition, she studied piano, organ, and voice throughouther college career and is a certified Orff Schulwerkand Musikgarten teacher. Ms. Hayes received the KCDAlumni Association Exceptional Teaching Award in 2009and studied in Finland as the recipient of the 2009 American Orff SchulwerkAssociation JeSeSoiry World Village Scholarship. She is past president of the<strong>Kentucky</strong> Orff Schulwerk Association and is the National Conference Co-Chair for the 2012 AOSA National Conference in St. Louis. She is pleased tobe celebrating her twentieth year of teaching music at KCD!Sara Buchanan MacLean left her career as an Elementaryand Early Childhood Teacher to pursue her study of Pianoand Composition. She completed her Master of Musicin Composition at Indiana University, Bloomington, andher work has been performed cross the U.S. and in Europe.She has never lost her interest in education or her love ofchildren and has been teaching piano for fifteen years.Private Piano and Voice InstructionKaren Welsh graduated from the University of LouisvilleSchool of Music in 1981 with a primary emphasis of studyin Piano Pedagogy. After graduating, she taught piano andmusic theory for several years in the U of L music preparatorydepartment. For the past 35 years she has providedprivate piano and voice lessons in the Louisville area.Hundreds of local students have benefited from hereighteen years of experience as a high school choral director. Each year, herstudents audition and are consistently accepted into the District and NationalHonors Choirs. Her choral groups have routinely won many regional competitionswith distinguished ratings. She joined the staff at <strong>Kentucky</strong> <strong>Country</strong><strong>Day</strong> in 1998, teaching middle school general music, middle and upper schoolchoirs and piano lab. During the past twelve years she has served as the MusicalDirector for numerous upper school plays.
