How about a visit to some of Kentucky’s (and SW Virginia’s) mosthistorically significant and naturally beautiful sites? How about both at thesame time?Join Mr. Wilhelmi and his wife as they revisit Cumberland Gap NationalHistoric Park and Fort Boonesborough . . . but be prepared to have your headfilled with examples of our state’s impressive biodiversity!Wrapped around one night in a cottage at Pine Mountain State ResortPark you’ll have two very memorable – and busy – days! We’ll hike .6 mile onthe actual Wilderness Trail to stand at the exact spot where over 300,000 pioneersfollowed men like Daniel Boone as they first crossed over the “saddle ofthe gap” and entered Kentucky! But first we’ll gaze at the massive White Rocksin SW Virginia and imagine how relieved the pioneers must have been to knowthat they were within a day’s journey of “the gap.” We’ll empathize with thechallenges the pioneers faced as they spent their last night of ‘protection’ inthe “the most authentically re-constructed frontier fort in America:” Martin’sStation. We’ll hike another short segment of Wilderness Trail and take a rangerledtour of Gap Cave with its giant stalagmite (the “pillar of Hercules”). We’llalso take a short drive to visit Pinnacle Overlook (elevation 2,440 ft.) for a spectacularview of The Gap and the “tips” of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia!Kentuck y Country Day School

These tests count as part of a student’s grade, andall the material on them is assumed to be common knowledge on the firstday of school in August. Students do not need to take these tests during thesummer, but all three must be completed by the 6-week grading period of firsttrimester in the fall. One test is over graphing, the second over trigonometry, the third over logs and exponential functions. This 15-hour course is dividedinto three units (each unit lasts five hours), one per test. During the first week,we review, explore, and discuss graphing and many related topics. At the end ofthe week, students go home with the first test. The following two weeks workthe same way with the other two units.
