FRESHWATER ALGAE, FUNGI AND LICHENSThis group is very heterogeneous; therefore it is not easy to produce simple criteria for siteselection. The British non-vascular flora comprises about 1000 bryophytes, 1500 lichens,10000 fungi and many thousands of species of marine and freshwater algae.
