Message from the PresidentFellow Members,It is an honor to be serving as the ASID President of the Minnesota Chapter. I haveenjoyed meeting many new people and working with the talented volunteers who arethe backbone of our organization.I am impressed by the level of professionalism and enthusiasm that the membershipputs forward to the public and those in the design community. As an organization wecontinue to have the highest quality programs and information available to educateour membership and the general public. With these programs, we are ensuring thatASID designers and industry partners are on the leading edge of providing informationthat protects the health, safety and welfare of the general public as well as giving ourmembership tools to thrive in difficult economic times.Along with a diverse population in our ASID Minnesota Chapter we have equallydiverse committees focusing on many issues. Our Green committee focuses on issuesof sustainability and is finding ways to pass this information along to the membership,our community service committee has just finished a successful project is searchingfor their next opportunity, the showcase house, kitchen tour, and awards continue todisplay the talents and work of many members in our organization.We are continuing our commitment to provide our membership with an interactiveweb site. This site is continually updated with upcoming chapter events, educationalarticles on topics ranging from design of all ages, to legislation issues, to tax andbusiness information, and sharing volunteer opportunities. As our web site continuesto grow we hope it will become a useful tool to register for events and for the publicto find designers through our referral service.I have found many professional and personal benefits from my membership andinvolvement with the ASID Minnesota Chapter. I have found new workrooms to fabricatemy crazy visions, I have found helpful business partners through showrooms andother suppliers, and met talented designers who have made my work and the way I runmy business better.
