The <strong>ASID</strong> Appellation andMembership DesignationsUnder <strong>ASID</strong> Bylaws, professional membership in <strong>ASID</strong> recognizes an interiordesigner as having completed a course of accredited education, and/or equivalentwork experience in interior design and successfully completed the National Councilfor Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) examination. These members have achievedthe highest levels of accomplishment and knowledge in their field. The consumer, thepublic, other designers, and affiliated professionals acknowledge the “<strong>ASID</strong>” appellationafter an interior designer’s name as the hallmark of professionalism.A professional member of <strong>ASID</strong> is the only member entitled to use the appellationwithout stating his or her qualifying membership classification, e.g., John/Jane Doe,<strong>ASID</strong> (F<strong>ASID</strong> if a fellow of the Society).<strong>ASID</strong> members in other membership categories are permitted to use the followingdesignations:• Allied Member:(Practitioner/Educator/International)• Student Member:• Industry Partner Member:(Company)• Industry Partner Representative:(Individual)John/Jane Doe, Allied Member <strong>ASID</strong>John/Jane Doe, Student Member <strong>ASID</strong>ABC Company,Industry Partner of <strong>ASID</strong>John/Jane Doe,Industry Partner Representative forABC CompanyThe membership designations must be spelled out completely. (Note: “of theAmerican Society of Interior Designers” may be substituted for “<strong>ASID</strong>.”) No modificationor deviation is permitted.The appellation for professional members and the designations for other membersmay be used only in conjunction with the member’s own name.Members may not utilize any form of the name of the Society or the <strong>ASID</strong> appellationin conjunction with a firm name, even where the member’s name is encompassedin the name of the firm.A member may in no way imply, through advertising or other means, that employeesof his or her staff or firm are members of <strong>ASID</strong> unless that is in fact the case, and thenthey may be identified only by the appellations or designations consistent with theirstatus in <strong>ASID</strong>.A member may not use the <strong>ASID</strong> official logo in any manner.<strong>ASID</strong> <strong>Minnesota</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> 2009 Membership Directory 21
