Overture 4.03 To Receive Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Airdrie, AB, into
Membership in Lutheran Church–Canada
WHEREAS the congregation of Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church, Airdrie, AB has applied for
membership in Lutheran Church–Canada; and
WHEREAS the constitution and bylaws of Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church, Airdrie, AB have been
examined by the Constitutions Committee of the Alberta-British Columbia District and
approved by the Board of Directors of Lutheran Church–Canada, ABC District; therefore be it
RESOLVED that Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church, Airdrie, AB be joyfully received as a member of
Lutheran Church–Canada.

Overture 4.04 To Amalgamate the Three District Church Extension Funds into One
National Synod Church Extension Fund
WHEREAS currently each district operates its own church extension fund and
WHEREAS having three separate church extension funds is an inefficient use of resources and
WHEREAS having one national church extension fund would ensure increased access to capital for use in
congregation projects and
WHEREAS having one national CEF would ensure capital is used in the most equitable way across the
Synod and
WHEREAS having one national CEF would ensure greater spreading of loan risk be it
RESOLVED that the Synod and three Districts investigate the merits of amalgamating the three district
CEF’s into one national organization.

Overture 4.05 To Transfer From the Districts to the Synod the Responsibility to
Administer the Student Aid Program
WHEREAS currently each district has established and administers its own student aid program and
WHEREAS there are differences in the amount per student that is available from district to district and
WHEREAS graduating students are placed by the Synod anywhere within the three districts and
WHEREAS the number of students interested in pursuing a career within Lutheran Church–Canada may
vary from district to district in any one given year be it
RESOLVED that the Synod and Districts investigate the merits of having the LCC student aid program
administered out of the Synod office for all three districts.
