<strong>MARINE</strong> <strong>CORPS</strong> <strong>UNIFORM</strong> REGULATIONS<br />

with a 1-1/2-inch strip of No. 3 gold braid covering the ends of the cord to<br />

allow attachment of the aiguillettes to uniform coats at the shoulder, just<br />

inside the armhole seam. The loops are arranged to lie flat in a horizontal<br />

position where they are fastened to the armhole seam, continuing thus for<br />

about half their length, then twisting obliquely and becoming superimposed<br />

vertically around the lower curve.<br />

b. Service aiguillettes are worn on the service "A," "B," and "C"<br />

uniforms and the blue dress "C"/"D" uniforms. Service aiguillettes are not<br />

worn on the service sweater, tanker jacket or all-weather coat.<br />

c. To prevent the scarlet color from running, service aiguillettes should<br />

not be worn outdoors during periods of precipitation.<br />

d. Service aiguillettes will be fastened under the shoulder strap and go<br />

around the shoulder just under the armpit, with the longest loop nearest the<br />

collar.<br />

e. On the khaki shirt, service aiguillettes will go around the shoulder<br />

just under the armpit, with the longest loop nearest the collar, and fastened<br />

at the shoulder just inside the armhole seam.<br />

4001. BRAN<strong>CH</strong> OF SERVICE INSIGNIA<br />

1. Design<br />

a. The officers' branch of service insignia for the dress/service cap is<br />

modeled after the Marine Corps emblem without motto ribbon. It consists of a<br />

view of the globe (Western Hemisphere) about 7/8 inch in diameter,<br />

intersected by a fouled anchor, and surmounted by an eagle. The rope of the<br />

fouled anchor is only connected at distinct points. The insignia is provided<br />

with a screwpost securely soldered to and projecting from the approximate<br />

center rear of the globe, and fitted with a milled nut. The dress insignia<br />

is gold and silver while the service insignia is finished in a nonglossy<br />

black.<br />

b. The design of the officers' dress collar insignia is identical to the<br />

dress cap insignia, except that it is about 11/16 inch in diameter.<br />

c. The design of the officers' service collar insignia is identical to<br />

the service cap insignia, except that it is 9/16 inch in diameter.<br />

d. Enlisted branch of service insignia is the same general design as<br />

officers' insignia, except that the rope is continuously connected to the<br />

fouled anchor of the emblem. Dress insignia is stamped of gold color metal<br />

while service insignia is stamped and finished in non-glossy black.<br />

2. Cap Insignia<br />

a. Dress cap insignia will be worn with the dress cap, centered<br />

vertically in the eyelet provided.<br />
