3. Regulations for Plastic/Metal Insignia<br />

a. Black metal/plastic insignia of the design illustrated in figure 4-9<br />

will be worn as indicated below:<br />

(1) AWC, field coat, utility coat and maternity work uniform coat:<br />

vertically, on each side of the collar with the single point up and the<br />

center of the insignia on a line bisecting the angle of the point of the<br />

collar. The lower outside edge of the insignia will be equally spaced 1/2<br />

inch from both sides of the collar. (See fig. 4-10.)<br />

><strong>CH</strong> 5 (2) Tanker jacket and sweater with epaulettes: insignia will be worn<br />

on each shoulder strap, single point inboard, and placed so that it is<br />

equidistant from the front and rear edges of the shoulder straps with the<br />

lowest point of the insignia's outer edge 3/4 inch from the armhole seam.<br />

Collar grade insignia will not be worn on the collar of the shirt when the<br />

sweater with epaulettes is worn. ALMAR 059/01<br />

(3) Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) parka: one insignia<br />

will be worn centered on the zipper flap in the space provided.<br />

(4) Organizational clothing (coveralls, food service uniforms,<br />

aviation clothing, etc.): insignia will be worn, in the same manner as worn<br />

on the utility coat, unless otherwise prescribed by the commander.<br />

>Ch 5 (5) Green Service Sweater with epaulettes: black metal insignia, of<br />

the design illustrated in figure 4-9, will be centered vertically on each<br />

epaulette, single point inboard, and placed so that it is equidistant from<br />

the front and rear edges of the shoulder straps with the lowest point of the<br />

insignia’s outer edge 3/4-inch from the armhole seam. Rank insignia will not<br />

be worn on the collar of the shirt. ALMAR 059/01<br />

>Ch 5 b. Blue Dress Sweater. Gold-plated (brushed brass) metal insignia of<br />

the design illustrated in figure 4-9 will be worn centered vertically on each<br />

shoulder strap of the blue dress sweater, single point inboard, and placed so<br />

that it is equidistant from the front and rear edges of the shoulder straps<br />

with the lowest point of the insignia's outer edge 3/4 inch from the armhole<br />

seam.<br />

4005. INSIGNIA OF GRADE, OFFICERS. (See fig. 4-11.)<br />

><strong>CH</strong> 5 1. General. Officers will wear only the grade insignia prescribed for<br />

their grade. Insignia is made of either shiny (anodized or oxidized) metal<br />

or subdued (flat black or brown) metal with clutch-type fasteners except for<br />

the evening dress uniform, upon which full-size shoulder grade insignia will<br />

either be embroidered directly on the shoulder strap, or embroidered on dark<br />

blue cloth, stitched to the shoulder straps of the jacket. ALMAR 015/02<br />
