<strong>MARINE</strong> <strong>CORPS</strong> <strong>UNIFORM</strong> REGULATIONS<br />

dress sweater, and field coat in the manner described below. Shoulder grade<br />

insignia will not be worn on the service or dress sweater. ALMAR 59/01 &<br />

MARADMIN 199/04<br />

(1) All officers will wear their insignia so that it is equidistant<br />

from the front and rear edges of the shoulder straps. Colonels and below<br />

will position their insignia so that the midpoint of the insignia's outer<br />

edge is 3/4 inch from the armhole seam.<br />

(2) General officers' stars will be worn equally spaced between the<br />

armhole seam and the shoulder strap button or edge of the collar, whichever<br />

is closer. One ray of each star points toward the collar.<br />

(3) Colonels' eagles will be worn with the wings at right angles to<br />

the center line of the shoulder strap with the eagle's head toward the collar<br />

and facing front.<br />

(4) Field grade oak leaves will be worn with the stem toward the<br />

armhole seam.<br />

(5) Company grade bars will be worn with the long axis of the bars at<br />

right angles to the center of the shoulder strap.<br />

><strong>CH</strong> 5 c. Collar grade insignia will be worn on both sides of the collar of<br />

khaki shirts (to include when worn under the service and dress sweaters), and<br />

the utility and camouflage maternity coats. When the service "A" uniform is<br />

worn by officers, the wear of the collar insignia is required at all times.<br />

The insignia will be centered between the top and bottom edge of the collar,<br />

with the outer edge of the insignia one inch from the front edge of the<br />

collar.<br />

(1) General officers' stars will be worn with one ray of each star<br />

pointing toward the top edge of the collar.<br />

><strong>CH</strong> 5 (2) Colonels' eagles will be worn on both sides of the khaki shirt and<br />

camouflage utility coats with the head toward the top of the collar facing to<br />

the front, with the wings perpendicular to the front edge of the collar. On<br />

the combat utility coat the eagle will be worn with the wings perpendicular<br />

to the deck. ALMAR 015/02<br />

><strong>CH</strong> 5(3) Field grade oak leaves will be worn with the stem toward the bottom<br />

of the collar and the line from the tip to the stem parallel to the deck.<br />

When the shirt collar is buttoned up the insignia will be parallel to the<br />

collar edge, as depicted in figure 4-12. MARADMIN 199/04<br />

><strong>CH</strong> 5 (4) Company grade insignia will be worn with the long axis of the bars<br />

parallel to the deck. When the shirt collar is buttoned up the insignia will<br />

be parallel to the collar edge, as depicted in figure 4-12. ALMAR 199/04<br />

d. Collar grade insignia will be worn on the right side of the garrison<br />

cap opposite to the branch of service collar insignia, with the insignia<br />

placed at a point midway on the arc of the flap and the flap generally<br />

bisecting the insignia (see Fig. 4-11)
