Wed., Mar. 6Marauder Fastpitch/Softball opened their Foothill Conference play with a 9-1 win overSan Bernardino Valley in six innings. The Marauders took the lead for good in the thirdand held it with Hannah Ulibarri coming in for relief and throwing 4.2 of no hit ball.Breanne Farinas and Ashlee Vivirito had two hit, three RBI days at the plate.Mon., Mar. 11 Sho Serrano went five for six at the plate as Marauder Baseball dropped Chaffey 12-1in a rained out make-up game. Dylan Lohman and Marshall Siordia both had 3 RBI,and in Siordia's case, without a hit (2 sacrifices and an error). Andrew Rabiej threw thecomplete game win.Sat., Mar. 16 Former Marauder Football running back DeAndra Cobb, who played for AVC in 2000and the 2001 Potato Bowl team was one of seven former CaliforniaCommunity College football players inducted into the CaliforniaCommunity College Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame onSaturday, March 16, at the Visalia Elks Club beginning at noon.Cobb gained 1609 yards as a running back for the Marauders, currentlyeighth on the career charts. Had 1096 in 2001 when he led AVC inrushing, and is the seventh best Marauder rushing season. For 280of those yards were against SD Mesa, the fourth best single gameperformance in Marauder history.Cobb was inducted into the Whit Carter Marauder Athletic Hall ofFame in 2009, and will be the fourth player and seventh from AVC to be inducted into theCCCFCA Hall.Aaron Owen's bases loaded single in the 12th inning gave Marauder Baseball its fifthstraight win, and first series sweep of the year, beating Victor Valley 10-9.The Marauders need to score twice in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extrainnings, and the Ram pitching helped when they walked Sho Serrano to send the gameinto extra innings.Andrew Rabiej came in relief in the seventh and looked like he would take the loss,giving up four runs in the eighth to give the Rams their first lead, but toughened up andpitched four scoreless innings for the win.This is the first time the Marauders have won five straight since the 2007 season.Thu., Mar. 28Fri., Mar. 29Newton Chelette, Antelope Valley College's Interim Vice-President of Student Servicesand Athletic Director was honored with the Honoring our Own Award given by theCalifornia Community College Athletic Directors Association for his exemplary serviceto the association.An error by the San Bernardino Valley left fielder allowed two Marauders to score andallowed Fastpitch/Softball to recover from what looked to be a devestating sixth inningand win 8-7.The Marauders scored six in the first three innings, but the Wolverines kept chippingaway and when the only two batters Nicole Peters saw homered against her, it was 7-6 infavor of SBV.But the Marauders, who remain a game out of first in the Foothill Conference after givingDesert their first conference loss on Wednesday, figured out how to get the win.Ashlee Vivirito was four for four on the day with a double, a homer and four RBI.
