MARAUDER ATHLETICS 2012-13A LOOK AT THE YEAR THAT WASFri., Aug. 31Marauder Women's Cross Country is just nipped by DeAnza in their quest to open theseason for the second straight season with the Ventura Invitational title. DeAnza scored46 to AVC's 50 (low score wins) despite a 2-3-4 finish by Emma Ramirez (5-4, SO,Palmdale (Pete Knight ’11)), Monica Vasquez (5-0, SO, Lancaster (Lancaster ’11)) andCynthia Guzman, 5-3, FR, Lancaster (Lancaster ’12)) respectively.Sat., Sept. 1 Marauder win first opening game since 2007 and first at San Bernardino since 1990,beating the Wolverines 33-20. Derrick Dison passed for 317 yards on a 21 for 32night and three touchdowns to lead the Marauders to a 33-20 opening game win in SanBernardino. Morgan Jones started the scoring for the Marauders on theseason, tying the game at one.Marauder Volleyball opens the season with a 3-0 loss at Pasadena.Marauder Volleyball beats Canyons for the first time since 1994 with a 3-1 victory in theSD Mesa Tournament.Marauder Soccer moved to 4-1-2, ending the pre-conference season with a 7-0 win overLA Valley. In the Marauder's first win at home this season, seven different players scoredgoals - Delaney Enriquez, Shawna Saitta, Daisy Vite, Jocelyn Padron, Colleen, MeganFerrell and Terra Klohn.Marauder Soccer opened their defense of the Foothill Conference title with a 2-1 winover Rio Hondo in Brent Carder Marauder Stadium. Jocelyn Padron scored first for theMarauders with an assist from Shawna Saitta, who then put in the game winner.Marauder Volleyball opens their defense of the Foothill Conference with a 3-0 win overCerro Coso. Allyson Lods recorded 26 digs.Marauder Football beats LA Valley 55-7, with eight different Marauders scoringincluding on each by AVC's quarterback duo of Derrick Dison and Edwin Westlund wholed the offense over 500 yards.

After all, there were over 1100 yards of totaloffense, 18 touchdowns and 123 points. All much bigger numbers. But it was that onethat counted as the Cougars' second blocked PAT of the game - after the Marauder hadscored in the second overtime - gave Canyons their sixth straight win over AVC - and theMarauders' first of the season, 62-61.The state's No. 11 (AVC) and 12 offenses didn't disappoint in the end, combining for1090 yards of offense, but it was the Marauder Football defense that stole the show,holding the West LA offense inside the five twice and scoring on an interception return,holding on for a 45-23 win.Marauder Women's Cross Country repeats as Foothill Conference Champions, markingtheir seventh and possibly last Foothill title.It was the first back-to-back titles for theMarauders since 1995 and 1996, and the thirdtime AVC has bee able to get two in a row.Emma Ramirez also became the thirdMarauder to win back-to-back individualRamerizconference titles, following Melissa Olmos in 2006 and2007 as well as Jean Harvey in 1990 and 1991. Maraudercoach Mark Covert was named Foothill ConferenceWomen's Cross Country Coach of the Year.It was officially announced that Marauder Athletics would move from FoothillConference to Western State Conference on July 1, 2013.Marauder Men's Basketball opens the season with an 81-67 win over Moorpark in theVentura Tournament.Marauder Soccer end the season with a 1-0 loss at Mt. San Jacinto - their last game aspart of the Foothill Conference. The Marauders end 8-7-2 overall, 5-7 and fifth in theconference.Fri., Nov. 9Sat., Nov. 11Marauder Volleyball wins 12th straight with 3-1 win at Victor Valley clinching a least atie for the Marauders' second straight Foothill Conference title and third in four years.Marauder Football’s chance for an American Pacific title are thwarted by Santa Monica,who won their second straight title with the 24-21 win. Derrick Dison, was 11 for 24on the night for 183 yards, threw two touchdown passes, which tied him for careerTD throws with 32 with Cory Allred who threw that amount in 2000 and 2001. TheMarauders end 7-3 overall, 5-2 and third in the American Pacific.Several tournament streaks came to an end as Ventura beat Marauder Men's Basketball87-74. It was the first time a host team had beaten AVC in 10 tries and the first time insix games AVC lost to the host in the finals.
