The combined competitive examination comprises followingsuccessive stages:Û The State Services Preliminary Examination for selection of candidatesfor Main Examination.Û State Services Main Examination (written Examination and Inter<strong>view</strong>)for final selection of candidates for the various categories of services andpost.The Scheme of examination and syllabi of different subjects wouldbe as given under Appendix I, II and III respectively.(i) All candidates, irrespective of their preference for a particularservice/post, will have <strong>to</strong> appear in the same number of papers as mentionedin the scheme of examination (Appendix 1). Only in the case of Candidatesapplying for the post of District Organiser, Tribal Welfare and Area Organiser,Tribal Welfare it will be imperative that in the Main Examination they offer‘Sociology’ as one of their optional papers.3. (i) The candidates obtaining minimum marks in the preliminaryexaminations as may be fixed by the Commission in their discretion, shallbe arranged in the order of marks obtained by them, Out of these candidatesonly about as many as equal <strong>to</strong> fifteen times at the most the <strong>to</strong>tal number ofposts under various categories, will be deemed <strong>to</strong> qualify for the MainExamination and the results of the preliminary examination shall beannounced accordingly. The list of candidates belonging <strong>to</strong> UnreservedCategory, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and OBC qualifyingfor main examination shall be separately prepared and their results announcedaccordingly. Preliminary Examination will only serve as a screening test forselecting candidates for the Main Examination and marks obtained in thisexamination will not be considered at the time of final selection of candidates.(ii)The candidates who appear in the Main Examination and obtainsuch minimum marks as may be fixed by the Commission in their discretion,will be arranged in the order of <strong>to</strong>tal marks obtained by them in the MainExamination. Out of these candidates only about as many as equal threetimes the <strong>to</strong>tal number of posts under various services will be deemed <strong>to</strong>qualify for being called for inter<strong>view</strong>. Similarly a separate list of candidatesbelonging <strong>to</strong> Unreserved Category, scheduled castes, scheduled tribesand OBC who qualify for being called for inter<strong>view</strong> shall be prepared.(iii) (a) After the inter<strong>view</strong> the candidates will be arranged by theCommission in the order of merit as disclosed by the aggregate of marksawarded <strong>to</strong> them in the Main Examination and the inter<strong>view</strong>.While recommending a candidate for a particular service, dueconsideration will be given <strong>to</strong> the preference, if any expressed byhim/her in the application, subject <strong>to</strong> the following conditions :-(1)If a candidate has not expressed any preference in the application,he will be considered for all posts in the order in which these have beenenumerated in the <strong>advertisement</strong>.(2) In case a candidate does not succeed in getting any of the postsof his preference, he will be considered on the basis of his aggregate ofmarks for other post (s) in the order in which these have been enumeratedin the <strong>advertisement</strong>.
