The latest digital transmission technology sends GPS data andlive, broadcast quality video images of the RIB back to the mothership,displaying the RIB’s position, course and speed.The system also closes the evidential loop as the position and trackof the RIB can be recorded and reproduced in the same way as theAutomatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA) target of the vessel in question.The SeaVue transmitter is available in a variety of frequency bandsfrom 300MHz to 3.5GHz. Utilising Cobham’s latest digital ‘non-line of sight’ (NLOS) video transmissiontechnology, the system typically comprises four rapidly deployable video cameras with selfcontainedpower supplies, and can be attached to standard street furniture or mounted ontop of an elevated fire platform.A command vehicle controls camera functions via a Cobham digital telemetry system, whilstmaking available four camera feeds to the on-scene commander and also distribute thesevia a satellite up-link to the Fire Service Headquarters. Because this makesthe operation more dangerous, it is evenmore vital to be able to see live images froma thermal camera within the hazard zone.On-scene commanders need to be ableto receive clear, stable audio and videofrom a body worn transmitter up to threefloors below ground, beaming back to anearby command location. Each transmittertransmits one video channel, two audiochannels and one data channel.Cobham Surveillance’s implementation ofthe COFDM standard is highly resistant tointerference and reflection and uses a verynarrow bandwidth (1.25MHz) to transmitthe images. The narrower the bandwidth,the greater the transmission range andpenetration ability to reach surface receiversfrom underground locations.The system can work with a combinationof rapid deployed PTZ, thermal andmobile body worn cameras, feeding backLocal command500m NLOSvia a Cobham digital telemetry system.All camera feeds go to the same bank ofdisplays/recorders in the command vehiclewhere they are available to the on-scenecommander and can be distributed viaa satellite up-link to the fire servicesheadquarters.The Underground Fire Solution has beentested by Avon Fire and Rescue within theUK’s longest underground rail tunnel.Video was successfully transmitted fromoutside the River Severn tunnel entrance500m NLOSWirelessrepeaterThermal imagertransmitterin Wales to a receiver located outside theentrance on the England side - a non-line ofsight distance of 7km, through a tunnel withmany curves and differences in elevation.In a typical fire service operation, the videotransmitter would be located within thetunnel, at the incident, and would transmit toa command vehicle located outside.For further information please contact: domo.sales@cobham.com 13
