gab es einen tragischen Unfall, bei

Despite the approach of this
Summer’s peak period our spirits
have been dampened somewhat by
sombre news from Austria. There
was a tragic accident at this year’s
Sonnenklang festival through which
one visitor lost his life. Our Austrian
correspondent Tom Rom, a member
of the festival crew, has written
more on the matter on
page 26. Life goes on though
and for us to lament it now
won’t do anyone any good.
However it does remind us
of one very important lesson:
we should all take care
of others, not just look after
ourselves. And that doesn’t just
apply to party-life ...

Waren Visuals vor vielen Jahren noch eine Materialschlacht,
unbezahlbar und sehr aufwendig, wird einem
heute der Einstieg erleichtert durch eine Vielzahl an verfügbarer
Technik und auch durch vorgefertigten Clips.
Somit wird das VJing für viele interessant, und je mehr
Menschen sich damit beschäftigen und anfangen selbst
aktiv zu werden, desto größer ist die Chance, bewegte
Bilder nicht nur auf Großveranstaltungen zu sehen. Hier
nun ein kurzer Einblick in die Szene sowie ein Überblick
aktueller Geräte und der passenden Software.
Chakra Corona ist das VJ-Projekt des Mexikaners Fernando
Aguinaco. Seit 1997 projiziert er Bilder auf Leinwände
und mischt sie dann live mit dem DJ.
Er hat schon mit Künstlern wie GMS, Kox Box, Alien
Project, Raja Ram, Atomic Pulse, Goa Gil, Etnica, CPU,
Ticon, Beat Bizzarre, Skazi, Vatos Locos und anderen
zusammengearbeitet (mehr Namen im englischen Text;)
. Er arbeitet mit neuen Technologien
wie Multimedia-Montagen,
Projektionen und Videoloops,
die er mit der Musik synchronisiert
und mit realen und abstrakten
Bildern mischt, um eine visuelle
Botschaft zu kreieren. Das
Chakracorona is the VJ-project
of Mexican Fernando Aguinaco.
Since 1997 he‘s been projecting
his images onto screens and
mixing them live alongside the
DJ‘s. He has worked with many
of the biggest visually supported
acts in the Trance scene such
as Sun Project, D-Tek, C.P.C.,

with all kinds of modern technology,
multimedia installations,
projections and video loops that
he synchronises to the music and

develop it in to a performance skill, the greater the

So könnten Diskussionen auf Festivals klingen, wenn die
VJ-Gruppe Masterdamus ihre Hand im Spiel hat. Dorian
Nathan gründete die Gruppe vor gut sechs Jahren in London,
mittlerweile arbeiten sie auch von Australien aus.
Immer das Ziel vor Augen, elektronische Musik in allen
Aspekten zu visualisieren und jeden erdenklichen Traum
real werden zu lassen. So wird die Festival-Umgebung
fotografiert, auf Leinwände gebannt, und dann werden
»I saw it! Just between the trees! It
laughed at me!«
»Nuts! You‘re dreaming ...«
»No! It WAS there! With green horns
a striped body, almost next to me ...«
Like that the discussions could be on
festivals when the VJ-group Masterdamus
has a finger in the pie.
Dorian Nathan aka Masterdamus
founded the group more than six
years ago in London with STV and
Micology and creating the »Visual
Live Act«.
The show and their Screening innovations
spreaded to Australia, Israel,
and European festivals.

Their goal is to visualize electronic
music scene in all its aspects and to
realize every dream to be possible
in real-time.
So they for example take photos of
the real woods or landscape surrounding
a festival, put it on screens
and add digitally created elves,
dwarfs, aliens ...
They call it a Fantasy Screen. So
when you meet Shiva or some magician
at your next festival-visit, be
sure that Masterdamus was there.
Illusions of visual trips which happen
in the reality, as unique screens are
created in multi dimensional forms
such as a pole, a dome or a pyramid,
expanding the usual flat screen
to a new interactive concept – the
viewer‘s point of view.
Sometimes the dancers get filmed
by the Masterdamus-crew AND
digital Elfen, Trolle oder Außerirdische hineingesetzt.
Wenn du also beim nächsten Open Air Shiva oder einen
Magier im Wald triffst, war wohl Masterdamus vor Ort.
Es sind Illusionen von visuellen Trips, die in der Realität
passieren, kreiert in Kugel- oder Pyramidenform, oder es
öffnet sich ein 3D-Tunnel hinter dem DJ. Abgestimmt auf
dessen Beats, fließen die Farben und Muster ineinander -
so sieht wohl ein psychedelisches Wurmloch aus. Visuelle
Erlebnisse der Superlative, die Masterdamus zum Beispiel
schon Bookings auf der Boom oder der VooV Experience
und Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern wie Hallucinogen,
Skazi, Infected Mushroom, Freq einbrachten ...

hear pictures and see sounds
Einen besonderen Weg gehen Sebastian Rost aka BuzzT
und Gerhard Kohlmeier aka El Geko mit ihrem Projekt
Psynema. Sie selbst nennen es Audio-Visuelle Choreographie,
eine Symbiose zwischen Musik und bewegten
Bildern.
Basti, seit zwölf Jahren als DJ und seit fünf Jahren als
VJ unterwegs, ist unter anderem aber auch noch Kameramann
und Producer. Seit ein paar Jahren liegt sein
Fokus auf der Zusammenführung des Visuellen und
Akustischen in einem Gig. Geko produziert Visuals und
Animationen seit über 20 Jahren und ist damit definitiv
einer der ersten Künstler dieser Richtung. Zusammengefunden
zu gemeinsamen Projekten haben die beiden
um 2003 in Österreich, die Geburtsstunde von Psynema.
Beide wohnen dort auch zur Zeit.
Jede audiovisuelle Show wird vorbereitet und ist im
Grunde eine Maßfertigung, zugeschnitten auf das jeweilige
Festival, beziehungsweise auf das Thema. Natürlich

Kohlmeier, aka El Geko are
carving their own path with their
project Psynema. They themselves
have described it as Audio Visual
Choreography, a symbiotic union
of music and moving images.
A DJ for twelve years now and VJ
for the last 5, Basti is, amongst
other things, a camera man and
producer. For the last few
years he has concentrated
on combining sound and
visuals as a single performance.
Geko has been
creating visuals and animations
for over 20 years
and can therefore claim to
be one of the first artists in
this field. They met while
working together on
joint projects in 2003 in their current
country of residence, Austria,
where Psynema was born.
Every audiovisual show is prepared
thoroughly in advance and is
in itself a major undertaking, tailormade
for each festival according to
its theme. Of course you can also
book them as stand alone DJs or
just as VJs. That depends on the
festival and the circumstances at
the time. So far the two have worked
at parties in Germany, Russia,
Austria, Morocco - and did a fantastic
show at Soulclipse in Turkey.
The next one will take place
at Sonica, Boom and Rhythms of
Peace Festival.
Naturally we took a quick glance
over their shoulders at what they
were using. As no doubt with such

Einen Blick über ihre Schultern haben wir natürlich
sozusagen auch gewagt. Denn gerade bei der großen
Auswahl an Technik und Software möchte der ein oder
andere vielleicht gern wissen, wie und womit die Effekte
und Animationen gemacht sind. Als Rechner kommen
zwei Macs sowie zwei P4-Notebooks zum Einsatz. Der
Mixer ist ein Panasonic AVE-55, dazu stehen drei DV-
Kameras und zwei DVD-Player zur Verfügung, als Software
unter anderem VJamm, Grid Pro und VDMX. Als
Material sind zwei Terrabyte-Animationen und 20 bis 30
Stunden DV-Tapes am Start. Sehr beeindruckend.

Jazzmutant Lemur 1.5
Jazzmutant beschreitet mit seinem
Midisteuergerät neue Wege. Hier
bekommt man nicht den üblichen,
mit Potis oder Fadern ausgestatteten
Kasten sondern ein Gerät mit
berührungsempfindlichem 12-Zoll-Display.
Über eine Software kann man das Feld mit
vielen verschiedenen Effekten und Steuerungen belegen
und sogar so genannte Seiten anlegen, die über Page up/
down Button gewechselt werden, falls der Bildschirm zu
voll wird oder man mehrere Geräte gleichzeitig steuern
möchte. Geeignet ist das Teil natürlich auch für DJs oder
Produzenten, aber besonders für VJs, durch die hohe Flexibilität
und das beleuchtete Display. Einziger Wermutstropfen:
Mit 2190 Euro kein Taschengeldvergnügen.
Numark – The next generation
Mit einer ganzen Armee neuer Produkte kommt Numark
in den nächsten Monaten auf den Markt. Neben sehr
interessanten Audiogeräten sind auch drei VJ-Produkte
dabei. Auf Midi-Basis wird es für die ArKaos VJ-Software
ein Steuergerät für den Rechner geben,
den CD/DVD Player VJ01 mit integriertem
LCD-Display und verschiedene Funktionen
um Bild und Ton direkt zu verändern.
Und als Herzstück des Ganzen
wurde auch das VJ Mischpult überarbeitet.
Dieses heißt nun AVM02 und bietet neben zahlreichen
Videoeffekten auch die Möglichkeit Audio
zu mixen. Die Preise stehen noch nicht fest, werden aber
laut ersten Informationen moderat ausfallen.
Auf Basis des seit 1998 erscheinenden Motion Dive des
japanischen Videopioniers Digitalstage gibt es jetzt von
Edirol ein Bundle, in dem ein Hardwaresteuergerät zu
der VJ-Software mitgeliefert wird. Über die USB-Schnittstelle
an den Rechner angeschlossen, können sehr intuitiv
und DJ-ähnlich Videos, Loops und Animationen
zusammengemixt und live verändert werden. Um gleich
(auf Mac und Windows) loszulegen
ist eine Sammlung
vorgefertigten Materials
bekannter VJ-Acts dabei,
Preis: 450 Euro.
Jazzmutant have taken a new approach
with their midi-controller. You won‘t
find the usual knobs and faders on
this box of tricks, but rather a 12 inch
touchscreen display. Using the included
software, you can link the screen to any
number of effects and computer commands
and even set up multiple pages that allow you to
switch between the devices you‘re connected to using the
page up/down buttons. The controller is aimed at DJ‘s
and producers, but especially at VJ‘s who require lots of
flexibility and a clear, well lit display. However, due to its
versatility, it can be used as an extra controller for almost
anything. Unfortunately, with a price tag of 2190 euros,
you‘ll need a very generous allowance to afford one..
Numark will be releasing a whole army of new products
onto the market next month. As well as numerous
interesting audio devices, they have three
new VJ products out. There‘s a new ArKaos
VJ software compatible midi-based controller
for your computer, then the VJ01
CD/DVD player with integrated LCD display
and various functions to manipulate
pictures and sounds and to top it all off, their
VJ mixer will be given a full overhaul. This is now
called the ACM02 and as well as offering loads of video
FX you can also use it for mixing audio. Prices have yet to
be finalised, but early information suggests that they will
be very reasonable.
Edirol MD-P1-S motion dive.tokyo
Based on the Japanese video pioneers Digitalstage
Motion Dive that first appeared in 1998, Edirol have now
put together a bundle in which you get a hardware controller
and the corresponding VJ software. Once connected
to a computer via USB, you can start creating very
intuitive and DJ-like videos, loops and animations, mix
them and use them live. To help you get started there‘s
a collection of pre-made material from
known VJ-acts included in
the package and it is both
Mac and PC compatible.
Costs about 450 euros.

Resolume
Ein sehr beliebtes, vielgenutztes und
schnell erlernbares Live-Performance und
Mixing-Tool ist Resolume. Bis zu 160 Clips
kann man hier vorladen und in drei Layern übereinanderlegen.
Diese drei lassen sich getrennt voneinander
mit unzähligen Effekten belegen, vor- und
rückwärts abspielen, loopen, verschieden schnell darstellen
und unterschiedlich stark einblenden. Steuerbar
ist es neben Maus und Tastatur
über jegliches Midi-Gerät oder über
den hauseigenen, extra dafür designten
Controller ReACT. Zusätzlich
werden über die Webseite verschiedene
Clip-Packages angeboten.
Preise: Software 200 Euro, Controller
500 Euro.
Flowmotion
Robotfunks VJ-Software hat
einen ähnlichen Ansatz wie
Resolume. In einen Vorschaubereich
kann man sich
Clips einladen, die über fünf
interne Monitore abspiel- und mixbar sind. Jeder einzelne
Monitor läuft autark, kann jeweils mit Effekten
belegt werden, und alle sind je nach Wunsch auf dem
Ausgabemonitor anzeigbar. Auch hier kann man, wenn
die Hand an der Maus lahmt, auf ein beliebiges Midisteuergerät
zurückgreifen und über die gleiche Schnittstelle
das Bild mit dem Ton synchronisieren. Bei keinem
dieser Programme darf man vergessen, dass sowas sehr
rechenintensiv ist. Ein schneller Rechner mit viel Arbeitsspeicher
ist immer Vorraussetzung. Preis: 135 Euro.
Robotfunks VJ software works in a similar fashion to
Resolume. You can load clips into the preview area
and then play and/or mix them using 5 separate internal
monitors. Each monitor runs independently of the
others and once you‘ve tweaked them with the various
FX, you can then choose which ones to blend into your
main presentation. Once again, should a mouse feel
too restrictive for you, you can use most midi controllers
to manipulate your work including synchronising
the video with the sound. One thing you‘ve got to bare
in mind is that all these programs are very resourcehungry.
A fast processor with lots of memory is essential.
Price: 135 euros.
Resolume is a much loved, widely used and
easy to learn live performance and video mixing
tool. You can pre-load up to 160 clips into it and
have up to three layers to play with. These layers are
completely independent of each other and can be used
with countless FX, can be looped, played forwards and in
reverse, have variable speed settings and can be placed
on top of each other with varying levels of transparency.
As well as with a mouse and keyboard,
you can use it with most standard midi
controllers or the in-house offering, the
specially designed ReACT. Resolume
also offer additional clip packages on
their website. The software costs 200
euros and the controller 500 euros.

VJamm
Der dritte im Bunde ist VJamm vom englischen Hersteller
Camart. Im Aufbau etwas anders, aber vom Grundmodell
die gleiche Kategorie. 16 Clips können unabhänging
voneinander bearbeitet werden, eine große Auswahl an
Effekten steht zur Verfügung, und Midi sowie Beatsync
sind natürlich auch an Board. Aufgebaut sind dieses Tools
so, dass man gleich loslegen kann. Die Feinheiten stecken
im Detail, man kann Wochen damit verbringen, immer
neue Dinge zu entdecken und der Spaß an der Sache
lässt einen nicht so schnell wieder los. Preise: Vjamm 3
50 englische Pfund, Vjamm Pro 299 Pfund.

Livid
Neben einer Software, die in die gleiche Mixtool-Kerbe
schlägt wie die anderen vorgestellten Produkte in unserem
Special, hat Livid eine Steuerkonsole im Programm,
deren Layout einfach atemberaubend daherkommt.
Tactic m2 heißt das Teil mit Midischnittstelle und
hat neben einem kleinen Monitor alles,
was man zum VJing braucht. Einsetzbar
ist es neben jeglicher
VJ Software auch für den
Audiobereich, etwa um Ableton
damit zu bedienen. Ein
weiteres sehr cooles Tool ist
ein Midigerät in Form einer
Gitarre, mit der man als Videojockey
eightieslike auf die Bühne
springen kann, um direkt vorm Publikum
live zu performen. Endlich wird dieses

Es war in Riktam und Banzis erstem Studio auf
dem Hausboot ihrer Mutter in Amsterdam, als die
holländischen Youngster und der alte Gentleman
aus Chicago begannen, Musik zu produzieren. 2000
wurden sie von einigen magischen Tropfen mit Raja
Ram verschweißt. Ein lustiges Quartett, die früheren
Teenie-DJ-Stars und die beiden alten Gansters Of
Love in einem Projekt: GMS vs Chicago vs TIPs
Seele = 1200 Mics. Sie touren über den Planeten
und rocken jedes Haus, sie reisen soviel wie möglich,
und manchmal kreieren sie dazwischen einen
neuen Track - in nie mehr als 48 Stunden. Manche
sagen, sie seien brillante Entertainer, manche sagen,
sie seien die Götter des PsyTrance, manche sagen,

Euer Name und eine Menge eurer Tracktitel
legen den Verdacht nahe, beim PsyTrance gehe
es nur um Drogen. Seid ihr sicher?
Nein, es geht nicht nur um Drogen! Es geht aber ums
Highwerden, high durch Music und das Tanzen dazu.
Wir bei 1200 Mics sind daran interessiert, den Geist zu
öffen und neue Dimensionen zu erobern, die nicht von
unseren normalen fünf Sinnen erfasst werden können.
Drogen können helfen zu verstehen, was wirklich wichtig
ist im Leben. Mein Leben hat sich damit verändert,
ist gewachsen, viele Menschen erzählen mir das auch.
Es geht aber wohlgemerkt um bewusstseinserweiternde
Drogen, die geeignet sind, die Persönlichkeit wachsen
zu lassen und high zu werden, nicht low ...
Warum habt ihr so viele Jahre mit Trance verbracht?
Niemand von uns kann seinen Geschmack erklären, es
ist einfach unser Geschmack! In Goa um 1983/84 bin
ich Techno einfach verfallen, diese fantastische Art von
Musik kann dich high machen wie nichts sonst. Unsere
Musik, ein dickes Soundsystem, alle tanzen zusammen -
... was für ein Rausch ... Ich war fast 20 Jahre lang jedes
Jahr in Goa, habe auf hunderten Partys dazu getanzt; es
war und es ist der Fokus meines Lebens. Raja Ram kam
seit 1989/90 nach Goa, wir haben uns getroffen, wurden
schnell beste Freunde und hängen jetzt seit über 15
Jahren auf Trancemusik zusammen.
Erzähl‘ uns vom Sinn des Lebens ...
Das Hören von Musik, das Tanzen lindert den Schmerz
des Seins. Manche Leute sagen, es sei albern, auf Partys
zu gehen, es sei ein Weglaufen vor der Realität.
Ich denke, es ist ein Segen! Eine Chance, das Tor in
eine andere Realität zu öffnen, außerhalb von Zeit und
Raum, Energie zu spüren wie nirgendwo sonst. Es ist
ein Ausbruch aus der Realität, aus der Härte der Realität
des modernen Lebens. Wir hoffen, unsere Musik

Chicago spielt als DJ auf der Antaris

It was in Riktam and Bansi‘s first studio on their
mother‘s houseboat in Amsterdam, that the Dutch
youngsters and an old gentleman from Chicago
started making music together. It was then in
2000, that some very special magical drops helped
bond them with their party partner Raja Ram. It‘s
a funny quartet, the former teenage Psy-stars and
the seasoned gangsters of love in one project: GMS
vs Chicago vs TIP‘s soul = 1200 Mics. They tour the
planet to rock the house, they travel as much as
possible and sometimes they combine their talents
to create a single track in no more than 48 hours.
Some say they are brilliant entertainers, some say
they are the Gods of Psy Trance, some say they
are beings from outer
space. I believe it‘s safe
to say that they play
at a different level, so
they deserve some special

The project name
and lot of track titles
suggest Psy Trance is
all about drugs. Are
you sure?
No, we don‘t think
Trance is all about drugs!
But it IS about getting
high ... high on the
music ... and high on dancing to it. And we all know
that in every club, regardless of what kind of music it is,
many people are on drugs. They find it opens their senses,
the aural appreciation of the music is intensified,
and their euphoria in dancing to it is increased.
We in 1200 Mics are interested in opening our minds,
and in expanding our consciousness ... in exploring

new dimensions that aren‘t normally experienced by
our 5 senses, and within normal reality. But these other
dimensions can be accessed. Drugs can help us see
and perceive new ideas and thoughts about what is
important in life, helping to send us in new and better
directions. I certainly know my life has been changed,
improved, and enhanced thru the use of these consciousness-expanding
drugs ... and many other people
have told me that they too have had dramatic changes
in their lives and their life‘s directions, thru using them
... Please bare in mind that we concentrate on only the
mind-expanding drugs, which are dedicated to personal
growth, and to being high, not low ...
Trance music has also played a big part in this. We hope
that our music makes
people high in this
unique and special
way ... to touch the
spirits of the listener,
hopefully to help
release their minds
and souls potential...
and sometimes even
touch their hearts. It
is very powerful, as
many have told us
with strong enthusiasm.
It was only our
first album which

consciousness-expanding
drugs. Our second was all about the amazing, fantastic
inventions and their inventors and the third uses
the vehicle of The Time Machine, to take us thru time ...
even rocking into the future ... So we are definitely not
focussed only on drugs ... but we ARE focused always
on getting high, on our minds and spirits being opened
to the higher levels.

Why have you spent so many
years working with Trance?
Well, none of us can actually explain
our taste in music ... it‘s our
taste. But I was there in Goa in
1983-84, when the very first electronic
music trax were played, and
which we all went crazy for. Then
the next season, it was only Techno
music played from then on at the
famous Goa parties ... and we simply
fell in love with this fantastic
new type of music ... which could
make us high like no other can.
There is no other way to get high
quite like this. We love playing our
trance music on a big sound sytem,
all dancing together, all high together ... wow, what a
buzz, what a rush!
So I went to Goa every season for almost 20 years, passionate
about this music, dancing at 100‘s of parties to
its amazing sound ... it was, and is, a central focus of
our lives ... Raja Ram started coming to Goa in ‚89-90,
we met, quickly became best friends, and have been
buzzing together to Trance music for 15 years ...
Last month I did an interview with Johannes
Regnier aka Silicon Sound. He‘s one of the slowest
producers, but his music is made for eternity.
1200 Mics is without a doubt one of the
world‘s fastest producing teams. What‘s your
music made for?
Well, we like to think that people will be enjoying our
music for a long time as well, ... eternity? Well ... I guess
every Trance producer has the same hope in mind, that
people will enjoy it and get high on it just thru listening
to it, in our homes, cruising in our cars, on our headphones,
at the beach, hanging out with groups of friends
, at restaurants ...
Secondly, and very important, dancing to it on the
dancefloors all around the planet at Trance parties and
festivals. We see that our music helps people do this
which is one of the big thrills in our lives, all of us getting
high and happy together on our music ...
In terms of the speed we make our music, yes, we are
one of the fastest producing bands, we make most of
our trax in two days, one day of preparation and one
to put it all together as a track. First, we must state that
Riktam and Bansi are incredible masters of all the electronics,
they are sooo fast. Raja and I are continuously

amazed by their speed ... we just need to suggest an
idea for a track, „how about trying this?“, and Riktam
just turns to the computer and bim, bam, boom,
seconds later he has it in the track, just like we envisioned
it ... truly amazing. Just this weekend Raja came
onto the island, Ibiza, where Riktam ´n Bansi and I all
live, and we did a new remix of our track »High Paradise«
- in 24 hours! Check it out, we think it came out
really strong, and will rock the dancefloors like the original
did... »a little drop‘ll do ya ...«
Tell us about the your take on life, please.
Listening to music, and dancing, help us to soften
modern reality somewhat, it soothes us. Some people
say that just going to parties is frivolous and an escape
from reality ... well, my answer is Viva! We think it‘s a
blessing, a chance to open that door into what we like
to think of as »an alternate reality« ... outside of time
and space, you just get into the music and the dancing,
and a collective high starts to build, an energy like we
can experience no other way. It IS an escape from reality,
from the harshness of reality, of modern life ... and
for a few hours, or a few days, you let go of your problems,
your worries, and get into this specialness. We
believe that all of us need these little escapes from the
difficulties and pressures of reality ... that it is a soothing
therapy for us all in a way. We hope our music
helps people to feel good, and to heighten our pleasure
of life, by buzzing to these sounds we‘ve created.

Founded three years ago in Mexico, Trance-it Magazine is now read by
more than five thousand people around the country‘s major cities such
as: Guadalajara, Mexico City, Pachuca, Puerto Vallarta, Puebla, León,
Monterrey, Cuernavaca, Cancun. Most of these cities are sites where
electronic Trance music has a strong presence.
Our whole team consists of contacts,
journalists, correspondents and of
about 50 people that distribute the
info all over the country, all working
to make this dream possible.
And with the hard work of the main
team in the headquarters in Ciudad
Satelite (in the North of Mexico
City), Trance-it Magazine is reborn
every month.
Dev and Alex are responsible for
advertising, distribution and content
coordination; Daniel (DJ Hidro) and

lives in Guadalajara, deals with everything
related with the mag in this

are college graduates in different

a promotion agency that organises
small, quiet parties on the north side
of Mexico City and Daniela is working
hard to become a well known
VJane in Mexico and controls many
of the artist bookings in that part of
the country. Therefore, the whole
team is always developing and trying
to create the most professional result
possible in every aspect.

related to music.

issue you will find some
interesting articles about technology,

psychedelia, ecology, antique
cultures, socialites and scene, space

Trancers enjoy. Besides this, we con-
stantly try to include nice articles to
support other Latin countries, like
Brazil, Chile and Guatemala.
Due to the up-to-date information
contained within its pages, the
magazine captivates the readers and
notifies them about all the recent
stuff that is going on in the national
and international scene.
We put particular emphasis on the
positive developmsents within the
national scene, and for that reason,
since the beginning, we have been
working with the most important
scene-relevant organisations
in this corner of the globe such as
Maia, Catalyst, Aximy & Psyclon
Records, Deliria, Sounds of Earth,
and some others not only established
in Mexico, but also from the
whole world. Through this, Tranceit
Magazine has earned the respect
of all these crews and holds the title
of being the first and only printed
media in the whole of Latin America
written solely in Spanish and focusing
on Trance culture. Our main
objective is and has always been to
form a healthy global culture, showing
what the Trance scene really
represents: music, freedom, peace,
unity, creativity and respect.
For this reason, Trance-it Magazine
tries to work harder day by day,
and now we’re about to celebrate
our third anniversary. Taking into
account all the demand that we had

for our previous parties, this time
we’ll launch a Trance festival with a
major dimension and versatility that
will include all the features and angles
that the Trance genre encompasses.

The Midnight Sun Festival will be a
celebration for more than 8000 people
and it will take place at the end
of the summer season (September
2nd & 3rd), near Mexico City. We
want to make this name into one of

in the country and that’s why we
chose an exclusive line up that includes
some of the best known live acts
and DJ’s in the international scene
like: S.U.N. Project, Sesto Sento,
James Monro, Reefer Decree, Fatali,
Bizzare Contact, Flowjob, Neelix
and others. We‘re expecting people
from all the regions where Trance-iT
Magazine has been before, including
the whole of Mexico, Central America
and the south of the US.

50 Verteiler und wird von mehr als

After that, some changes will take
place at Trance-it Magazine. We
intend to expand our distribution to
South America and to all the Spanish
speaking countries too. Maybe
we will transform the A6 booklet
into a bigger issue that will include
much more info about CDs, parties
and variable topics, in order to
bring Trance music to the general
attention of the Mexican public. The
primary reason for this is because
we think that in Mexico, Trance
music needs the support of more
customers, organisations and sponsors.
Maybe with some more help
from the public radio stations and
the TV cable channels we can consolidate
Trance music into a common
part of society. This will be our
next goal at the end of 2006 and
throughout the next year. In this
way, many aspects will be improved
in our national electronic music
scene. No more gatecrashing, no
more abuse and no more un-professional

reichlich Erfahrungen, die die drei
ja nun mal haben, wird das Baby
zu einem Erfolg geführt werden,
ich bin mir da sicher. Da sie es in
Frankreich nicht leicht mit Veranstaltungen
haben, werden sie auch
bald wieder aufbrechen um den
Erdball in der anderen Richtung
zu rocken.

disappeared from the scene after
their second album back in 2003.
How gratifying it is therefore to
announce that they are back with
their recent album »Anomaly in
your Brain?« on newborn French
label Morphonic Records which
was established by DJ Toltek and
the Psyside members themselves
last year.
As with their previous albums
(which were somewhat different
to each other), this new one is an
alternative voyage among tricky,
well-versed sound-creations that
get caught up amongst the human
synapses. Although it’s definitely
one for the nighttime or twilight
dancefloor, it‘s not what you might
expect from music usually played
during these hours and stands out
from the easily misunderstood genres
that we have nowadays. They
implement a mix of various trippy
sounds, ethereal voices, hypnotic
phases and crazy percussion, once
again managing to make their
music sound rather unique: you
can hear that they‘ve put a lot of
effort into making it something special.
They‘ve just got back from an
exciting pre-release tour in Japan
where they received enthusiastic,
warm and honest feedback.
Now back in France, they‘ll have to
get used to the restrictive legal restraints
that make it nearly impossible
to organise events outside a
club ... So it probably won‘t be long
before they‘re on tour again anyway.

Loopus in Fabula - Funkyfunnyfresh
Loopus (oder für den alten Lateiner: lupus) in Fabula
ist der »Wolf in der Fabel«, aber auch ein italienischer
Ausdruck für den Teufel oder eine Wortspielerei: »fabulöse
Loops ...«. Aber nicht nur mit Worten spielt Matteo
von Loopus gerne, auch der letzte Albumtitel »Fat Ladies
Bingo« und der Sound an sich machen klar, dass er die
Dinge nicht ganz so ernst nimmt. »Funkiger, lustiger,
verrückter Elektro-Sound wär’ meine Definition«, sagt
Matteo, »aber man darf nie vergessen, dass der Sound
für den Dancefloor ist. Wenn ich die Leute also lachen
und tanzen sehe, weiß ich, dass ich alles richtig gemacht
habe.« Neue Tracks gibt’s noch diesen Sommer, aber
Loopus in Fabula wird auch live in England, der Schweiz,
Italien, Belgien und Spanien zu sehen sein. Und Deutschland?
»Das ist ein Geheimnis«, grinst der italiensche Wolf
im Schafspelz.
Loopus (or lupus in traditional Latin) in Fabula means
»the wolf in the fairy tale«, however it’s also used in Italian
as an expression meaning »speak of the devil« as
well as being a play on words (sounds like »fabulous
loops«) ... Words certainly aren‘t the only thing Matteo
of the Milan Loopus likes to play with. As the title
and sound suggest, »Fat Ladies Bingo« reveals that Loopus
is having a hard time taking things too seriously on

ihm geht. Er will die Leute schocken,

lässt sich nicht durch Kritik abschrecken.
Highko geht mit seinen Kumpanen

there. Always on the hunt for the
extraordinary, trippy, crazy, musical

um DJ Nick and Sid,

The Trance culture in India seems
to be developing rapidly, with international
acts playing every now and
then in the major cities. A number
of record labels have been set up.
Shivlink took its first shape as a
group
of party
organisers,
who spread their vibe using
the medium of full on Psychedelic
Trance. While the conceptualisation
travels back to the year 2000, the
mutual product of DJ Nick and Sid
took the form of Shivlink Records
in 2006. They released their first
compilation »In Lak’esh« in May,
featuring the cream of upcoming
artists from the Israeli Trance
scene. Based in New Delhi, this
label has done wonders to promote
the psychedelic vibes in the
capital of India.
Tilak Goswami and Vinayak Daryanani
established Nocturnal Wizardz
Records with an aim to promote
underground madness as well as
upcoming artists and DJ’s around
the globe. Based in Mumbai, the
non-profit label released their first
compilation »06.06.06« on sixth
June. Owing to their attraction
toward Dark/Night psychedelic
trance, Nocturnal Wizardz has featured
quality acts such as Kindzadza,
Zik, Fungus Funk, Grapes Of
Wrath, Penta, Strangers, Kerosene
Club, and Tool.
Sharath, Royston, Gagan and
DJ Nik pic Shivlink Records
Dean are
popularly
known
as Amaris Records. The label has
been set up with a view to act as
a platform to nurture the young,
upcoming talent in the Trance
scene. Based in Mumbai, Amaris
have scheduled to release their
first album, »Lunik«, in July or

Sonnenklang Festival
Über das Sonnenklang Festival in
Österreich berichtet unser Austria-
Korrespondent Tom Rom aus Sicht
des Organisationsteams, zu dem
er gehört.
Nach einem traumhaften Sonnenklang
2005 mit tropischen Temperaturen
ist leider 2006 der Super-Gau
für jeden Goa-Veranstalter eingetreten,
der sicher noch einige Zeit brauchen
wird, um ihn zu verarbeiten.
Nachdem es zwei Tage lang warm
und schön war und sich das
schönste und größte Sonnenklang
seit 2003 anbahnte, stellte sich ab
Freitag Dauerregen ein. Nachts
waren die zehn Dancefloors teilweise
Schlammfelder, die nur mehr
ein paar Hundert Fraggles lockten.
Tausende blieben in ihren Zelten und
machten ihre eigenen Partys. Trotzdem
waren etwa 7500 Goa-Frag-

Medien - immerhin das zweitgrößte
Sonnenklang seit Bestehen.
Trotz Regens gab es funktionierenden
Sound auf allen Stages. Performer,
Deko-Artists und VJs, DJs und
Liveacts gaben ihr Bestes, alles lief
nach Plan. Leider wurde am Freitag
bekannt, dass ein israelischer Festival-Besucher
LSD-artige Tropfen
verkaufte, die mit hohen Dosen von
Strychnin versetzt waren, wodurch
zehn Menschen in Spitäler eingeliefert
werden mussten, aber bald
entlassen werden konnten, wie die
Einsatzleitung der Rettung berichtete.
Das rief die Polizei auf den Plan, die
erstmals in der Geschichte der Ösi-
Szene zwei Razzien durchführten,
die erfolglos blieben.
Damit nicht genug, stürzte ein 25-

the weather to watch the weekend

Furthermore, the tragic death of a

Felsen außerhalb des Festivalgeländes

starb. Die Rettungstaucher fanden
ihn später in sechs Meter Tiefe. Dieser
Unfall passierte trotz 70 freiwilligen
Rettungskräften, die fünf Tage
lang 24 Stunden ihr Bestes gaben.
Alle Veranstalter waren zutiefst
betroffen von dem Vorfall und alle
kämpften mit den emotionalen Folgen.
Sonnenklang 2006 war leider
ein emotional und finanziell schwer
verkraftbarer Verlust, der der Psytrance-Szene
in Österreich einen
schweren Schlag versetzte. Ob es ein
Sonnenklang 2007 geben wird, ist
jetzt noch nicht klar.
Das heurige Thema »Spirit of Atlantis«
wird sicher nie mehr gewählt.
25 year old German who fell from
a rocky outcrop outside the festival
grounds into the lake, reportedly
under the heavy influence of alcohol
and other substances, along
with the brief hospitalisation of 10
guests due to bad LSD, meant that
the police for the first time in the
Austrian scene‘s history carried out
two raids. They didn’t find anything.
These calamities took a heavy emotional
toll on the crew and along
with the large financial losses the
festival made, the future of Sonnenklang

MySpace, their license?
Die beliebte Web-Plattform MySpace
ist in die Diskussion geraten. Wer seine
Musik, Kunst, Bilder ... darüber ins
Web stellt, so steht es im Kleingedruckten,
gibt alle Rechte an MySpace ab
- und damit an Medienmogul Rupert
Murdoch. Sänger Billy Bragg protestiert
dagegen und hat seine Songs offline
gesetzt. Laut Medienberichten betont
MySpace aber, kein Interesse an solchen
Rechten zu haben. Eine ähnliche
Klausel gibt es übrigens auch bei der
Chatsoftware ICQ.

CzechTek legalised
Im vergangenen Jahr war es beim
Free-Techno-Festival CzechTek zu

Elfentanz Festival
21-23 July / Peseckendorf near Magdeburg
Trotz vieler verregneter Erinnerungen an das vorige Jahr
wird das Elfentanz-Team natürlich auch diesmal wieder
die Elfen ehren. Einen halben Kilometer
von der bisherigen Location
erwartet uns ein kühlender Bach,
und genügend schattenspendenden
Wald gibt es auch dort. Und
die Stände werden durch den
Umzug besser zu finden sein - ich
glaube wirklich, die Elfen hatten
da letztes Jahr ihre Fingerchen

Chill geben, wie gewohnt mit
einem Line Up für alle Geschmäcker,
samt Performance auf dem
Mainfloor am Samstagabend. Wie
zuvor ist die TerraFormerFlotte
beteiligt und verwandelt die Wiese
in einen Feen-Spielplatz. Stell dich

Eine Umarmung von Herzen für
die Psytrancekultur soll das vierte
Underwater Overground in Kroatien
werden, und so sind zum Beispiel

Dekorieren, Trommeln, Didgeridoo-Spielen
bis zu Jonglier- und
Akrobatik-Tricks.
Dazu gibt’s eine ganze Woche Partyspaß
unter anderem mit internationalen
Acts wie Vibrasphere,

Artists) und einer Iboga-Abordnung

findet das große Sommerfest
der kroatischen Szene, das immer

Regardless of our memories of a very wet summer
last year, the Elfentanz crew has been forging plans to
honour the elves once more. This year the festival will
be taking place about half a kilometre
farther away from the original site. This
new location has a stream clean enough
to cool off in and still offers the shade of
the forest. Last year the stands were a
bit hard to find. I really do think that the
elves had a hand in hiding them.
There will be two floors and a chill-out
area as usual with a line up that offers
something for all tastes, including a live
performance on the main floor Saturday
night. As in the previous years the TerraFormerFlotte
team will be co-organising
the festival as well as transforming
a simple field into a magical fairy playground.
Just like in previous years you
can expect a rubbish free, loving atmosphere
with plenty of surprises to keep you
moving through the rest of the festival season.

Um im verflixten sechsten Jahr alles richtig zu
machen, gibt es eine neue Tshitraka-Location
in Wittstock/Alt Daber auf einem ehemaligen
russischen Militärgelände. An dem hier befindlichen
See, der auch zum Baden freigegeben
ist, werden euch 18 Live Acts und 37 DJs
aus 13 Ländern auf einem Fullon- und einem
Progressive-Floor sowie im Chillout Zelt ein unvergessliches
Wochenende bereiten, das erst am Montag um
12 Uhr endet.
Als musikalischer Leckerbissen darf wohl die Liveperformance
von Beckers und D-Nox zählen, die in Deutschland
so schnell nicht wieder zu hören sein wird. Weiterhin
stellen Lish, Sub 6, Black & White, Fatali, Ticon und
Galactica ihre Alben vor. Einen Vorgeschmack bietet die
Tshitraka Compilation, die auf Blue Tunes erschienen ist.
Für die Optik gibt es die altbekannte Pyramide in neuem
Gewand, ein speziell für die Party erarbeitetes Dekokonzept

Zum 15. Mal findet in diesem August die
VooV Experience schon statt und wird
auch in diesem Jahr sicher wieder Akzente
setzen. Hier wurde euch noch nie das
blaue vom Himmel versprochen oder so
getan, als handele es sich um das einzig
wahre super-spirituelle Festival. Trotzdem
bewies grad das Festival im vorigen Jahr,
wie gut die Organisation bei aller Freakigkeit
klappt, selbst trotz 16 Stunden Monsun-Regens
im Vorfeld. Möglich macht das alles nach Auskunft
der Veranstalter: »... die beste Crew der ganzen weiten
Galaxis ...«

VooV Experience, Putlitz-Süd, da man am Hintereingang

Das Putlitzer Freibad hat von Donnerstag bis Dienstag,

Tribe Kokopelli Productions, deren Partys
schon immer sehr geschätzt waren. Unter
dem Motto »4 Elements« wird Kokopelli
einmal mehr seinen Kosmos ein Wochenende
lang öffnen, die Biocosma findet wieder in der
traumhaften Bündner Bergwelt statt. Die Kokopellis werden
jedes Element gewohnt liebevoll gestalten. Das Line
Up ist voll von Schweizer Qualitätsprodukten, zum Beispiel
Müstik, Goma und Q.E.D. und freundschaftliche Beziehungen
zu israelischen Künstlern bringen grosse Namen, wie
Fatali, Pixel und Star-X in die Alpen.

Das sechste Boom Festival, eines der größten Psytrance-Festivals
der Welt, will sich am selben Platz wie
2004 den Verbindungen zwischen Psytrance und elektronischen
Musikstilen sowie verschiedenen darstellenden
Künsten widmen. Mit der brasilianischen Organisation
Ecocentro wurden für das Festival zudem eine
Wiederverwendung des biologischen Abfalls, eine Aufbereitung
des Duschwassers und ein Tauschprogramm
Müll gegen Lebensmittelgutscheine vorbereitet. Ein solches
ökologisches Profil hat nicht gerade jede Party ...

Festival, one of the biggest Psytrance events worldwide
will dedicate itself to the »interconnection between
psy-trance and genres of electronic music« as well as
several other art forms. Alongside the Brazilian organisation

of a service where you can exchange rubbish for

Traditonsgemäss findet am Wochenende
der Züricher Streetparade die
Zoom statt. Das grösste Psytrance
Open Air der Schweiz feiert diesmal
sein Zehnjähriges. Eine Bewilligung zu
bekommen war nicht immer einfach,
das bremste jedoch das Engagement der Veranstalter
Happy People Productions keineswegs – zum dritten
Mal laden sie jetzt in ihre neue Heimat bei Winthertur
ein. Dort bietet die Zoom wieder ein erstklassiges
Line Up und viel Gestaltungsraum für Künstler – für
fette Fireperformances, einzigartige Deko und aufwendige
Lichtprojektionen.
Dass die Lokation fast neben der Autobahn liegt,
sorgte anfangs für Argwohn. Dieser verflog jedoch
mit dem ersten Blick auf die grosse Waldlichtung,
auf der sich das Festival immer wie ein flauschiges,
verwunschenes Elfendorf offenbart. Dieses Jahr wird
es neben der beeindruckendsten Goa-Bühne der
Schweiz wieder einen Progressive Floor geben. Dabei
sind unter anderem Live Acts von D.N.A., Triptych
sowie D-Nox & Beckers, als DJs haben sich neben
vielen anderen Größen Sabaii Sabaii und Mapusa
Mapusa angekündigt.
Rhythms Of Peace
Th-Tue, 17-22 August / Atlantic Coast (Morocco)
Das Rhythms of Peace Festival wird diesmal recht nah
an Spanien gefeiert - gut erreichbar, aber auf einem
unberührten marokkanischen Strand. Nach dem schönen
Flair beim Debüt im vorigen Jahr könnte es ein großes,
flauschiges Psy-Familienfest werden. Am Line Up
wird’s nicht scheitern, denn das ist oberfett und vielen
Formen des Trance gewidmet.

As is tradition, Zoom will be taking place the same weekend
as the Zürich Streetparade. The biggest Psy-Trance
open air in Switzerland will be celebrating their 10th
anniversary this year. It hasn‘t always been easy getting
permission, but organisers Happy People Productions
haven’t let this stop them, they’re inviting us to their new
home in Winthertur for the third time. There, Zoom will
be presenting a top lineup and lots of creative space
for artists with phat pyro displays, sensational deco and
dazzling light projections. The fact that it’s located near
to the motorway raised a few eyebrows at first, but this
concern was soon dismissed at first sight of the huge
clearing on which they erect an enchanted elf village.
Once again there’ll be a Progressive floor alongside Switzerlands
most impressive Goa stage and as well as live
performances from D.N.A., Triptych and D-Nox & Beckers
there‘ll be DJs like Sabaii Sabaii and Mapusa Mapusa

Moroccan beach that is situated closer to Spain
in order to improve the accessibility. After the nice vibe
their first festival created last year this event could well
become a huge meeting point for the tribes, where people

The Antaris festival will once again be
collecting donations for the German
children‘s cancer charity, last year they
raised over 3500 euros. Yogi Tea is supporting
this year‘s collection by donating
500 bottles of their freshly cooled »Spice
Tea Latte« drinks. They come in three
different flavours: Original Spice, Mystic
Mint and Rooibos Vanilla and you can
get one when you make a donation
at the bar. The net proceeds are then
passed on to the charity to support the
good work it does.

zur zweitägigen Fachtagung
Entheovision in Berlin ein. Der
Kongress war trotz der geringen
Besucherzahl eine sehr gelungene
Plattform zum Informations- und
Erfahrungsaustausch.
Maximilian Plenert, Sprecher des
Fachforums Drogen der Grünen
Jugend, stellte das Konzept des
Drogenfachgeschäfts vor und sorgte
für eine rege, kontroverse Diskussion
unter den Besuchern. Das Konzept
beschreibt eine ganzheitliche
Vision der Legalisierung von Drogen
und wie das konkret in der Praxis
aussehen könnte. Der kontrollierte
Verkauf von Drogen mit umfangreichen
Informationsangeboten soll
über eine Drogensteuer finanziert
werden. Etwas skeptischer war die
anschließende Diskussion darüber,
ob das Drogenfachgeschäft tatsächlich
dem Schwarzmarkt die Grundlage
entziehen würde und in der
Praxis realisierbar ist.
Wolfgang Sterneck (Alice - the
drug and culture project) sprach
von einer Konsummentalität als
Ausdruck der inneren Leere und
beschrieb die Sehnsucht nach dem
psychoaktiven Utopia. Tibor Harrach
beleuchtete das Phänomen

Nicht nur mit Guantanamo, sondern
auch sonst brechen die USA traurige
Rekorde. Im Juni 2005 saßen dort 2,2
Millionen Menschen im Knast. Dabei
hat sich diese Zahl seit 1980 mehr
als vervierfacht, die Zahl der wegen
Drogendelikten Verurteilten hat sich
auch knapp vervierfacht (auf 530.000).
Sogar verachtfacht hat sich die Zahl der
weiblichen Insassen seit 1977, wobei ein
Großteil dieses Anstiegs auf den Krieg
gegen Drogen zurückzuführen ist. Trotz
Abnahme der Kriminalität werden in
den USA heute Menschen eher und für
länger hinter Gitter geschickt.

den aktuellen Forschungsstand zu

Originating from one of the leading Psy
Trance labels from the fifth continent
I was very glad when this, a very well
balanced compilation, finally reached me.
Outstanding tracks by Damage, Audialize,
Multistate(!!!) and Dark Nebula, from
pumping groove-monsters garnished
with a lot of acid swirling around to more
skimpy but no less trippy stories. I could
quite happily play the whole disc at a
party. My favourites are the powerful and
playful »Agent Orange« by Kluster and the
contribution by the Swiss »Electrypnose«.

Teil zwei der »Goa Tribes« teilen sich
zwei DJs der FullOn Morning Fraktion:
Jackomo von der Schweizer PsyTrance
Garde und Tulla. Jackomo kennt man
als Aufleger israelischer Musik, und
so lässt er es in der ihm eigenen Qualität
satt und solide, gut sortiert und
brandneu angehen. Tulla serviert die
etwas herausragenderen und manchmal
auch poppigeren Tracks, dabei
Protocultures wunderbares »Hitched«
und Pop Streams Morning-Abräumer
»Beef« zusammen mit Triptych. Witzig,
dass beide DJs ihren Spaß mit dem
Future Prophecy Album hatten, mit
»Uni Sex« und »November Rain«
sind die beiden besten Tracks hier
eingewoben. Aber nur Millenniums
Herr Ligowski
wird wissen, wo
die auf dem Titel
angekündigten
progressiven
Tracks stecken ...
Part two of the
»Goa Tribes«
series is put together
by two well known DJ from the Full-on
morning sector: Tulla and our Swiss mate
Jackomo. Jackomo is famous for DJing
Israeli morning stuff, so his CD is a solid,
well done collection of tracks, brand new
and top quality. Tulla serves up the more
outstanding and occasionally somewhat
more poppy tracks, Protoculture‘s wonderful
»Hitched« is on it as is Pop Stream’s
glittering morning number »Beef« together
with Triptych. It‘s funny, both DJs had
»Tokyo – Tel Aviv« - V.A. (Noga Rec) CD
DJ Ziki, Israeli in Japan, erfreut uns mit
dem zweiten Teil seiner »Tokyo – Tel
Aviv«-Compilation, und wieder dürfte ihm
damit ein Stammplatz in den
Sommersets der DJs sicher sein.
Dies ist zweifelsohne Sound
für die großen PAs, druckvoll,
uplifting, psychedelisch-twisted
mit verspielten Acids, voller
Themenwechsel und vielen
witzigen Samples und höllisch
treibend wie druckvoll. Dabei,
auch wenn es mal richtig sägt
und kreischt, nie bösartig oder dunkel.
Wie in den Tracks selbst findet DJ Ziki
eine feine Balance zwischen dichten psychedelischen
Grooves für die Nacht und
aufgeräumten uplifting Trance-Schiebern
für den frühen Morgen sowie einigen
Tracks, die herrlich im Grau zwischen
Tag und Nacht schwimmen. Ganz selten
gibt es mal eine Compilation, auf der ich
nahezu jeden Track spielen würde, wenn
dann noch mindestens vier »Hits« mit
dabei sind, ist dies meine Kaufempfehlung
des Monats.

Hong Kong, Drachen, Feen und ein Name,
der mich an mein Lieblingscomic Squee
DJ Ziki, an Israeli in Japan, delights us
with the second part of his »Tokyo – Tel
Aviv« compilation, and has herewith once
again secured his music
a regular place amongst
this summer’s DJ sets. This
is without a doubt music
for the big PAs, uplifting,
psychedelically twisted with
playful acid grooves, full of
theme changes and funny
samples and as hellishly
driving as it is impressive.
At the same time, even when it really
begins to serrate and screech, it’s never
dark or malicious. Just like he does in the
individual tracks themselves, DJ Ziki finds
a fine balance between flowing psychedelic
grooves for the night and ordered,
uplifting Trance hits for the early morning
as well as a few tracks that float nicely in
the twilight between day and night. It’s
very seldom that I would consider playing
nearly all the tracks on a compilation and
with at least four »hits«, this is my recommened

Hong Kong, dragons, fairies and a name
that sounds like of one of my favourite
comics (Squee), meant that this CD was
one I couldn‘t wait to listen to. And wow,
was I in for a surprise. Funky, innovative,
playful, but most of all varied Psy, almost
every track on this compilation could fall
under a different style depending on who
you ask. A creative DJ could have some
fun with this CD, but I would strongly
recommend giving it a thorough listen
to first, definitely not one to just grab
from the bag and play. The Sonic Dragon
website describes their subdivision Faerie
Dragon as »the eclectic side« and I couldn‘t

Ihrer furiosen ersten Compi stehen Yabai
in Japan mit ihrem zweiten Werk in
nichts nach. Ein vorzügliches Line Up mit
Beiträgen für die nächtlichen Psyfloors
von RAM, Scorb oder Digital Talk, das auf
jeden Fall hält, was es
verspricht. Kein wirklich
schlechter Track
befindet sich darauf
und von welcher
Compilation kann
man das heutzutage
noch behaupten?

After a furiously paced debut, Yabai
from Japan strike back with their second
compilation matching the standards set
by the original and with a line up just as
promising. Outstanding tracks contributed
by RAM, Scorb, Digital Talk or Seroxat,
who produced the title track »Sakura«,
make this disc a must have for psychedelic
night time Trance freaks. Not a bad track
to be found amongst them which is quite
rare nowadays! Yabai deserves phat
respect for bringing such a pearl to the

»GOA Vol. 16«
V.A. (Y.S.E.) 2CD
DJ Miraculix ist ein umtriebiger Bursche
und bringt schon wieder eine neue (die
16.) Compilation seiner »GOA«-Serie an
den Start. Diesmal hat er sich Gedanken
über den musikalisch perfekten Abend
und Tag gemacht, entsprechende Tracks
gesucht und in einen passenden Flow
gepackt. So fängt CD1 also noch recht
entspannt, aber schon druckvoll an, um
sich von Track zu Track durch die Stunden
der Nacht zu hangeln. Es wird mehr
und mehr nachttauglich, zuerst noch
uplifting und groovy, später dann treibend
und psychedelisch. Die letzten Tracks
wiederum eignen sich hervorragend für
mystische Momente im Morgengrauen.
CD2 widmet sich am Anfang den deepen
und progressiven Tracks für die lauschigen
Vor- und Nachmittage, aber auch hier wird
es wieder treibender, und so finden sich
ab der Mitte einige recht psychedelischer
Schieber, aber mit sonnigem Gemüt und
deshalb richtig auf der Tag-CD platziert.
DJ Miraculix is a man who likes to keep
himself busy and here he is launching
yet another (the 16th) compilation in his
»GOA« series. This time he’s concentrated
on finding the perfect music for night &
day, searched for
suitable tracks
and arranged
them into a nice
continuous flow.
Although CD1 starts off quite relaxed, it
still gets you going and swings from track
to track through the nighttime hours. It
gets gradually more and more nocturnal;
uplifting and groovy to begin with, then
becoming somewhat more pumping and
psychedelic. The final tracks then become
more suitable for the mystical moments
in the morning dawn. CD2 starts of with
deep and progressive tracks dedicated to
the mellow late morning/ afternoon hours,
becoming gradually more driving and from
the middle it becomes really psychedelic,
however it maintains a cheerful vibe and is
therefore ideal as a daytime disc. (Tulla)

»Copa Episi EP« (AP) 12“
»Culmination Of Physical And Emotional
Pleasure In Sexual Intercourse« will der
Titel heißen, und ob das der richtige
Soundtrack dazu
ist, mag vom Rezipienten
abhängen.
Treibend, beißend
und wavig, ist der
Track auf jeden Fall
ein außergewöhnlich
dickes Ding
mit einer merkwürdigen,
sakral-mystischen Anmutung.
Der zweite Track »Steam« fällt dagegen
ziemlich ab, zu eindimensional. Weit
origineller ist das Update zu Colour Hazes
»Raumschiffkommandant« auf der zweiten

Seite. Der vierte Track ist ein Remix von
McCoy zum »Klangbad« des ersten Meller
Albums. Leute, die mal ‚was anderes
spielen wollen, werden ihre Freude an
dem Vinyl haben.
»Culmination Of Physical And Emotional
Pleasure In Sexual Intercourse« is the
full title - erh, well I suppose it depends
on your sexual tendencies whether or
not this is a suitable sound track. It‘s
driving, cutting and with a wavy touch. An
outstanding track with a mystical, sacral
vibe. The second track »Steam« compares
badly with it because of its one dimensional
approach and arrangement. The
hallucinogenic update of Colour Haze‘s
»Raumschiffkommandant« on the flip side
is much better. The fourth track of this e.p.
is a remix from McCoy of »Klangbad«, a
track from Meller‘s first album. All in all
the »Copa Episi EP« is a really mixed vinyl
for those who like to play something fresh

Mit einem internationalen Tracklisting
wissen die Australier auf ihrem bereits
fünfzehnten Release mal wieder zu
überzeugen. Fette Grooves in gesundem
Tempo mit Beiträgen von lokalen Künstlern
wie Scatterbrain, der endlich mal
wieder auftaucht, oder Dark Nebula mit
Psywalker, die sich wohl fühlen, umgeben
von Artifakt, wie immer top, oder Scorb.
Durchweg überdurchschnittlicher Stuff, der
mich von Anfang an aufhorchen ließ. Fette
Scheibe für Nightime Psylover.

release thrilled me from the beginning as I
found some of my heroes on it and there
was only one track that just didn’t do it for

Guiseppe geht in die zweite Runde der
»Psy Stories«-Serie und beschert seiner
Fangemeinde einen weiteren Leckerbissen
des vertrippten Mushroompsy. Es ist
sicherlich schwierig gewesen den ersten
Teil zu toppen,
aber Parvati
kommt um
Haaresbreite an
den vorzüglichen
Vorgänger heran.
Hokus Pokus, die
schon auf Teil 1
hohe Beachtung
verdienten, Kindzadza, Galaxy Madness
oder Derango bereiten mit anderen Freunden
ein Acidgelage in achtzigminütiger
Genussverordnung so funky zu, dass ich
es nur jedem Parvatifan ans Herz legen
kann. Top Notch!
It must have been difficult trying to top
the first part of this series but with this,
the second chapter in »Psy Stories«, and
Parvati has only missed achieving this by a
hair‘s breadth, but no worries acidfreaks,
this disc does not dissappoint in any way.
What we have is a marvelous 80 minute
trip of the typically acid-ridden Mushroom-
Psy we have come to know him for.
Hokus Pokus, having already grabbed our
attention in first part, is now joined by
Kindzadza, Galaxy Madness and Derango
to make sure this is another top notch
release from the Danish pioneers of funky

In Israel gibt es unglaublich schöne
Menschen. Angesichts meiner männlichen
Befangenheit sind mir natürlich vor allem
die schönen Frauen aufgefallen - und
es sind so unglaublich viele. Spätestens
wenn man sie tanzen sieht, versteht man
FullOn und Israel. Überraschend genug,
dass es bisher noch keine Frau unter den
Produzenten gab. Endlich kommt nun Dalit
Eizner mit ihrem Album auf Hom-Mega,
dem männlichsten aller Label und der
Heimat der dicken Hosen von Astrix und
Alien Project. Als bekennende Freunde
weiblicher Emanzipation waren wir wirklich
scharf darauf dieses Album zu hören,
es ist aber leider Müll. Electro-Vocoder-
Zeugs à la Infected, wirklich übler Gesang
von Karen Yamin und handelsüblicher
Gitarrenschrott von vor fünf Jahren, das
alles zusammengebraten auf poppigem
und in der Tat »hektischem« FullOn in
lausiger Produktion, aber top Mastering.

Dali erreicht damit nicht viel mehr als Zirkusniveau.
Ich bin ehrlich enttäuscht und
bedaure die verpasste Gelegenheit.
Doch schon in ihrer Danksagung ist zu

Welt!« Das ist leider richtig. Im PsyTrance
geht es ja nicht nur um

If you‘ve ever spent time in Israel you‘ll
wonder about their unbelievably beautiful
girls. Watch them dancing and you will
understand why Israel is the leading
country for Full-on music. Surprisingly,
Dalit Eizner has become the first girl ready
to release a debut album - and on Hom-
Mega of all places, the most masculine
Israeli label and home to Psy-playaz like
Astrix and Alien Project. As self-confessed
supporters of female emancipation we
were very interested in her music, but it‘s
crap! Electro vocoder stuff like Infected,
boring old guitar rock, bad vocals by
her singer Karen Yamin, culminating in
»hectic« Full-on Trance with lousy production
but top mastering. To be honest, I‘m
deeply disappointed with the quality of her
music. And sad about this big opportunity
being missed.
In her vote of thanks she wrote: »... thanks
to all my fans that come to see me ...
around the world!« That‘s right, psy trance
is not only about music, it‘s also about

Ahhrghhh, es sind die Finnen, die immer
wieder in ihren Beiträgen manifestieren,
dass es um Spaß geht. Und dass sie dies
in Musik ausdrücken, erfreut mich immer
wieder aufs Neue.
Mit einem Psybreak-Stück
wird
ein wunderbares
Album eingeläutet,
mit dem die
beiden uns in einen typisch finnischen Trip
entführen, der aber dennoch weit verträglicher
ist als üblich, wenn er aus dem hohen
Norden kommt! Sicherlich nicht einfach für
jeden Psyhead zu genießen, bedient man
sich doch mal wieder aller möglichen Stilelemente,
Funk, Breaks, noch mal Funk, Acid
und Groove, sogar einzelne Blues-Einflüsse.
Einfach nur spaßig und ultramusikalisch.

Eyal Arbuz und Ezra Arangi aus Israel
kommen mit vier neuen Tracks, von denen
ich die ersten drei als
richtig gute Psytracks
empfinde, auch wenn
Toast3d mich mit
mehreren Compilation-Beiträgen
in den
vergangenen zwölf
Monaten mehr gerockt
haben als mit den
neuen Sachen. Dazu
gesellt sich ein Ambient-Track, und ich
freue mich in jedem Fall darauf, auch mal
ein Album der beiden zu hören.
Eyal Arbuz and Ezra Arangi are the two
Israelis behind Toast3d and with this short
collection they present us with four of their
most recent creations. Although I prefer
some of the tracks they‘ve released on
compilations over the last 12 months, the
first three are all perfectly good Psy tracks
(»Oz« is my favourite), before »Cosmic
Garden« brings the CD to a much more
Ambient finish. I look forward to hearing

Man hört vom ersten »Explosive Tone«,
dass wirkliche Absicht im Spiel war, ein
Konzept, eine Vision. Auf knackend aufgeräumten,
fast progressiv-schlanken, aber
massiven und amtlich schnellen Beats in
FullOn-Geschwindigkeiten bahnt sich ein
Feuerwerk aus Modulationen und Melodien
seinen Weg in dein Ohr. Wirklich schön:

Diese Musik ist zu

Glitzern der Musik noch zu den Tugenden
des PsyTrance zählte. Richtig, PsyTrance
war Liebe, Kraft und Freiheit. Und kann es
immer noch sein.

are three young guns from Israel who‘ve
spent a lot of work on their album »Electric
Fields« with some help from the likes of
Fatali and Gataka. They had a concept
and a vision before they began and have
produced a unique album full of passion
and soul. It runs on clear, slightly progressive
beats at Full-on speeds, a rocket of
massive modulations, atmospheres and
melodies flies trough your brain bringing
the story together. Enjoy the beautiful intro
»Explosive Tone«, flowing at 145 beats, the
morning hymns »Shmatrix« and »Open
Air«, as well as the night time rollers like
»Impact Inside« or the tribal acid storm
»Cillium«. »Electric Fields« is too complex
and intense to waste indoors, it recalls the
good old times when psy trance was about
colours diving in and out of glittering

Der Labelstart für Tantrumm aus den USA/
Indien ist eine furiose Zusammenstellung
von psychedelischen »Marktführern« der
Szene. Polyphonia, Jellyheadz, Para Halu
oder Hishiryo sind altbekannt, wenn es
um den verspielten Acidtrip geht. Das
fulminante Acidspektakel von Strangers in
»Dramatika« hat es mir wirklich angetan,
Powerpsytrance at its best. Ein Muss
für Fans des twisted

USA/India is a unrestrained
compilation
of well chosen tracks from many of the
leaders of the psychedelic scene. Pumping
Psy-Trance at its best for the freaknation,
and with Strangers I‘ve discovered a new
acid-gem with »Dramatica« which has
really captivated me. With contributions
from well known artists such as Kindazdza,
Polyphonia, Para Halu and Hishiryo the
story fits well onto a fucking great disc
with diverse atmospheric trips throughout.

»Space Helmet« (Spectrum) CD
Spectrum ist das Label und auch das Projekt
von David Nachmias aka DJ Dede, einer
der ganz großen israelischen DJs und Aktivisten
seit dem Anfang des Trance. »Space
Helmet« ist sein drittes Spectrum Album,
diesmal ohne Tamir, aber mit so illustren
Partnern wie Perplex, Ultravoice, Oforia und
Paul Taylor, dazu Zusammenarbeiten mit
und Remixe für Spectrums Neuzugänge DJ
Kido und Eliran Mimon aka Stereomatic.
Klar, dass David hier mit top aktuellem
Trance kommt, modern, technisch auf der
Höhe der Zeit, brilliant und sauber, ich
vermisse jedoch die großen musikalischen
Elemente, die Dauerhaftigkeit der Musik.
In dieser Hinsicht herausragend ist allein
der Titeltrack, für den Dede mit seinem
alten Sparringspartner Ofer eine schöne
melancholische Start- und Landebahn
kreiert hat, und vielleicht auch das funkige
Finissimo »Deep Impact« mit Ronen und
Kido. Jemand, der so viel weiß wie Dede,
sollte aber viel mehr davon erzählen.
Spectrum is the label and project of David
Nachmias, aka DJ Dede, one of the most
respected Israeli DJs and Psy-activists since
the dawns of Trance. »Space Helmet« is his
third Spectrum album, this time without
Tamir, but with other fine partners like
Perplex, Ultravoice, Oforia, Paul Taylor and
the new Spectrum acts DJ Kido and Eliran
Mimon aka Stereomatic. You get clear,
modern Full-on Trance of the finest production
level. But the CD lacks the big musical
statement, the innovative ideas and any real
durability to the music. The best example in
this respect is the title track done with Ofer,
with its melancholic launch and landing
or maybe, the CD‘s funky finale, »Deep
Impact« with Ronen and Kido. I think a guy
like Dede, who knows all about dancing,
Trance and music should tell us a bit more

Optokoppler
»Bugfix« (Y.S.E.) CD
Mittlerweile haben sich die beiden Optokoppler
mit ihrem klassisch angehauchten
Stil viele Freunde gemacht. Ihre Tracks
fallen in den Sets vieler Full-On-DJs
besonders auf, Sie programmieren auf
ihrer Software andere als die herkömmlichen
Basslines und wechseln oftmals die
Stimmungen in den Tracks, groovige und
twisted Parts harmonieren hervorragend
miteinander, und aus dieser Abwechslung
beziehen viele der Tracks ihre Dramatik
und überraschende Momente. Dabei wird
es aber auch immer wieder auf die psychedelische
Spitze getrieben, ohne dabei
allzu viel zu kratzen oder zu nerven. Neun
Full-On-Tracks voller Druck, positiv und
voller Überraschungen.
Mit »Massive« findet
sich wohl auch ein
Sommer-Hit mit catchy
Vocoder-Gesang und
viel Gefühl. Klasse
Album.
The two Optokopplers
have made many
friends by now with their classical-touch
style. Many DJs, particularly those with
more Full-on leanings, regularly use Optokoppler
tracks in their sets; they program
abnormal basslines with their software and
regularly change the mood of their tracks.
Groovy and twisted segments harmonise
beautifully with each other and many of
the tracks achieve dramatic and astonishing
moments through this variation. In
doing so however, it manages to keep
pushing against the boundaries of psychedelic
sound without being annoying or
grating. Nine Full-on tracks full of impact,
positive and full of surprises. »Massive«,
with it‘s catchy vocoder singing and lots of
feeling has got to be another summer hit.

auf die beiden israelischen Zauberer, wie
sie auf glitzernden Flächen durch treibende

Manchmal leicht seichte Harmonien und
ihre perfekten Arrangements ergeben ein
charmant raviges Gefühl von Euphorie
und Dancefloor-Einheit. Es geht um Spaß,

»In My Head« (Utopia) CD
Erst 21 Jahre alt, ist Kfir Lankry wahrlich
kein unbeschriebenes Blatt mehr. Im
zarten Alten von 13 Jahren fing er an,
elektronische Musik zu produzieren und
war schon mit seinem früheren Partner Didi
für das ziemlich coole Album von Bizarre
Contact auf Compact verantwortlich. Von
nun an will Kfir jedoch solo unterwegs
sein. Dieses erste Album serviert ziemlich
abgedrehten FullOn Morning Trance, quirlig
lebendig, aufgekratzt, an der Ravegrenze
und manchmal drüber. Es beinhaltet viele
schöne Elemente und Motive, ist ziemlich
gut produziert
mit knackendem,
knusprigem
Sound und
lässigen Samples
und Vocals, in
der mitunter
hektischen Mixtur
der Teile für
europäischen
Geschmäcker aber overdosed. Der Junge
ist halt richtig heiß, hätte aber besser ab
und an die Handbremse gezogen. Er ist
jedoch ein riesiges Talent, und so mache
ich mir keine Sorgen um seine musikalische
Zukunft.
Only twenty-one years old, Kfir Lankry is
already a well known figure in the Israeli
scene. Producing electronic music since the
tender age of thirteen, he already did a big
album with his former partner Didi under
the name of Bizarre Contact on Compact.
His first solo album is in fact a full on
dose of Morning Trance filled with lots of
melodies and ideas. It‘s vivid and cheerful,
bordering on Rave at times, sometimes
crossing over. It contains many beautiful
parts and patterns and is very well produ-
ced, the sound is crisp and the samples
are fine, but sometimes his blending of the
different elements is a little over the top.
Kfir is really hot, there‘s certainly a lot of
action »In his Mind« but it would been better
to restrict it to a clearer structure. He‘s a
great talent and I‘m confident he‘ll find the

2006«, die mit
dem Space
Ganesh, ist schon
seit geraumer
Zeit DJ Bim
zuständig. Auch
diesmal bleibt er
seinem bewährten
Konzept treu,
eröffnet CD1 mit Ambient/Chill und bringt
danach acht Progressive-Trance-Schieber.
Zuerst noch recht langsam, beginnt Vibrasphere,
ab Track 5 wird es zunehmend
knackiger und fordernder. Ibojima leiten
dann im letzten Track zur Full-On-CD über,
auf der geht’s nun zur Sache. Cosmic Tone
eröffnet satt und sauber, Fatali ist ebenfalls
uplifting, das neue Project von DJ Exanimo
namens EMC2 ist mit einem oldskool Track
dabei. Protoculture sowie Galactika und
Aerospace als groovig-deeper Abschluss,
jeweils von den aktuellen Alben, sind
weitere Anspieltipps.
DJ Bim has been responsible for the »GOA
2006« series, the one with Space Ganesh,
for a considerable while now. Once again
he has remained true to his proven
strategy, starting CD1 with Ambient/ Chill
followed by eight Progressive Trance
beauties. Starting off very slowly you have
Vibrasphere, then from track 5 it gets
increasingly crunchier and more demanding.
Ibojima then makes the transition to
the Full-on CD with the last track and this
is where it really starts getting down to
business. Cosmic Tone’s opening is clean
and lush, Fatali is similarly uplifting and
the new project from DJ Exanimo called
EMC2 is here as well with an oldskool
track. Protoculture along with Galactika
and Aerospace provide a deeper, more
groovy finish with tracks from their current

and avant-garde CD. Amongst the extremely
diverse variants of Punk, Electro,
Psytrance and other sorts musical styles
you nearly always hear the same vocal
sample. So it all really comes down to the
following: a concept album with an audio
story by Perry Rhodan, that you get as an
audio-play on the disc. Likewise, the video
clip from »Der Tante Renate«. Impressive,
mixed and with a version to suit every

Natürlich schmunzelt man zuerst über den

und es gibt wie immer erstklassigen
Progressive
House. Im Original
sehr schön
smooth und
melodiös, wird
es bei Track 2 als

wird etwas in den Vordergrund gehoben.
Track 3 ist die Break-Version des Ganzen
von Yvel & Tristan und steht den beiden
anderen in nichts nach.

sublabel Beef feels as charmingly dirty and
techletric as expected – a very tasty debut,
I already dare to say: one of this year’s
best CDs! Label head DJ Schwa serves
up a rich source of hypnotic and catchy
tunes on this first compilation, that doesn’t
include that many artists from the Trance
scene. You get ten fine tracks, all at around
128 bpm, with which a good DJ can easily
create that special proggy vibe and a flow
far from the usual Goa stereotypes. In
addition to the disc itself, there’s a helpful
booklet that presents the label and contributing

ohne zu vergessen dass das ja mal Trance

ist eine ganze Spur ruhiger und groovt
tribalmässig in
einen Vocoder

undeterred from there. Ideal sounds for 3

»Electroshock« (Plastik Park) 12“
Plastik Park bringt einen neuen Namen ins
Spiel: Nicholas Fronos aus Uruguay aka
Logiztik Sounds. Seine Version ist schön
deeper Elektrotrance mit Druck, der dich
ganz tief rein zieht. Nur führt der Trackname
ein bisschen in die Irre. Der Remix
des Holländers C-Jay ist schwebender und
verträumter angelegt, auch ganz lecker,
aber für mich zu nah am Original.

Deep Electro Trance that eases you into a
Progressive groove – don’t let the track title
fool you. C-Jay from Holland adds a remix

but to me it sounds a bit too much like the

»German Techno Vol. 2«
V.A. (Translunar) 2CD
Einen Überblick über die deutsche Techno-Szene
verschafft uns Translunar, ein
weiterer Spross der Millennium-Familie.
Insgesamt ist die Compilation diesmal
Minimal-Strömungen auf der Spur. Auf CD1
finden sich Highlights von Acts wie Hardfloor,
Electrochemie, Loco Dice, Dominik
Eulberg oder Johannes Heil. Goanauten
würden dies als Action Chill Out abtun, zur
Afterhour am See eignet es sich allerdings
vorzüglich. CD2 hat mehr Drive und Druck
mit bouncigen und raueren Tracks, sie ist
aber auch viel subtiler. Es findet einiges
an Klangforschung statt – hochinteressant,
aber nicht unbedingt tanzbar. Die tanzbareren
Tracks drücken entschieden mehr Sexappeal
aus, die Grooves fordern geradezu
Körperkontakt und würden sich bestimmt
auch auf Prog-Floors wohl fühlen. Translunar,
another off-shoot from the Millennium
family the provides us with an overview
of the German Techno scene. All-in-all, this
compilation follows a minimalist vein.
On CD1 you‘ll find highlights from acts
like Hardfloor, Electrochemie, Loco Dice,
Dominik Eulberg and Johannes Heil. Goanauts
will dismiss this as »Action Chillout«,
it‘s certainly perfectly suited for afterhours
by a lake. CD2 has more drive and thrust
with bouncy and rawer tracks, however it
is much more subtle. It‘s more of an experiment
with sound, extremely interesting,
but not necessarily for dancing to. The
tracks that are better for dancing to ooze
decidedly more sex appeal, the grooves
simply demand physical contact and will no
doubt feel right at home on the Progressive

progressive compilation somewhere between
Trance and House. Pena‘s CD will become
your daily companion. Echotek starts with a
Psy/Prog stomp after which Flying Rhino‘s
former head-honcho James Monro, today an
ambassador of Deep Prog House in Brazil,
serves a minimal twist of Atmos‘ grooves
updated with a wave of 80ies influences. You
also get true Electro House from Rob Mooney
and Fusi & Johnson with a rolling bassli-
ne as well as some somewhat more hypnotic
trance from Lunaspice and True To Nature.
But the best tracks - surprise, surprise - are
by Iboga‘s new dreamteam Yuli and Banel
aka Perfect Stranger vs Behind Blue Eyes and
Manuel Duego. Good Prog comps are rare,

Auf Yeti kamen die ersten Sachen, dann gab
es unzählige Remixe und jetzt ein Album.
Grundsätzlich kann man es als Trance
bezeichnen, schon progressiver, aber man
muss ganz klar ein Freund oder eine Freundin
weiblicher Vocals sein, denn diese findet
man in fast jedem Track. Er hat viel mit Kirsty
Hawkshaw, die
ich sehr schätze,
zusammengearbeit.
Dennoch ist
das auf 14 Stück
verteilt eine geballte
Ladung und ich
denke man fährt
gut, wenn man
sich ab und an ein paar Songs rauspickt,
dann gibt es auch keinen Overkill.
The first things came out on Yeti, then there
were innumerable remixes and now an
album. Strictly speaking, you could call this
Trance, somewhat more progressive, but
one has to be a fan of female vocals as they
are on nearly every track. He‘s done a lot
of work with Kirsty Hawkshaw for whom I
have a lot of respect, nevertheless this 14
piece collection presents a cumulative affair,
and I think it‘s best to just listen to a couple
of tracks at a time, that way there won‘t be

»Metabasis« (Flow) CD
Musiker, die einen eigenen Weg aus
weicher Bewegung und assoziativen Soundlandschaften
finden, sind wirklich selten.
Vor einiger Zeit hat Flow ein fantastisches
Album einer polnischen Band names Aural
Planet veröffentlicht. Radoslaw Kochman
hat jetzt ein neues Projekt daraus entwickelt,
zwar in der Tradition von Aural Planet,

There aren‘t many musicians with their own
method of creating such an outstanding
blend of soft movements and beautiful
soundscapes. Some time ago Flow records
released a fantastic album by Polish act Aural
Planet and one of its members, Radoslaw
Kochman has now formed a new project.
Following on in the tradition of Aural Planet,
but with new partners with which to cover
new grounds: Radoslaw teamed up with
Daniel Lulkowsky and started »Sundial« in
late 2005. Two more freaks have since joined
the Sundial ensemble to complete their first
album. »Metabasis« is a serious manifesto,
as clear as a religious experience, a flight
from terrestrial grounds to outer spaces, a
proclamation of the beauty of existence and

Der Superstar des Trance - einen Überblick
seines Sounds verschafft Tiesto uns mit seiner
bekannten „In Search of Sunrise“ Serie,
Version fünf. Und man lese und staune: diese
CDs sind weit entfernt von dem üblichen
Hardtrance. Natürlich sind auch ein paar
kitschigere Tracks dabei, grade auf der ersten
CD, doch dann findet man plötzlich altbekannte
progressive Sounds. Way Out West,
Ozgür Can oder Petter, um einige zu nennen,
machen Tiesto wieder sehr hörbar, auch
wenn ein wenig der rote Faden fehlt.

provides us with an overview of his sounds
with his well-known »In Search of Sunrise«
series, currently at version 5. And one reads
and gasps, these CDs are a long way from
horrible Hard-Trance. Of course there‘s a few
kitschy tracks, especially on the first CD, put
amongst them you‘ll find some well known
progressive sounds. Way Out West, Ozgür
Can and Petter to name but a few, are once
again made listenable, even if they do lack

Novacaija - Art from threads and wool
Hinter Novacaija verbirgt sich Thomas Ottinger, der
seit nunmehr drei Jahren aus der Dekoszene in Süddeutschland
nicht mehr wegzudenken ist. Novacaija
ist Resident-Dekorateur im Kuhstall Petershausen,
hat aber auch schon große Locations wie bei den
Jugend Kulturtagen im Schwarzwald oder im Nachtwerk
in München verzaubert. Er macht zwei- und
dreidimensionale Fadenobjekte und anders als viele
andere Dekokünstler verkauft er seine Objekte auch
oder produziert auf Bestellung. Novacaija Stringart ist
auf stabilen Holzrahmen verarbeitet und kann nahezu
in allen Größen geliefert werden und lässt sich somit
auch optimal auf die Zimmerwand oder Location
anpassen. Am besten gefallen mir die Würfel und der
Green Light Destrict, das besondere dabei ist, dass
jeweils zwei unterschiedliche Objekte in einem Dekoteil
verbaut sind und zudem der Rahmen als drittes
Objekt farbig gestaltet ist. Wenn dann das Schwarzlicht
angeht, lässt sich damit richtig gut

personal favourites are the cubes and the green light
district that are especially nifty in that they incorporate
two different items built as one piece and come with
a painted frame. With the blacklights turned on it‘s
