www.bassetlaw.gov.uk 15Community groups and partnersSchool awarded Green Flag statusRamsden Primary School in Carlton-in-Lindrick hasachieved the coveted Green Flag status. As well asmeeting the tough criteria set by Keep Britain Tidy,the School’s unique woodland classroom facilitieswere singled out for praise by the Eco-Schools assessorfollowing her visit in May.The facilities are the culmination of 18 months’ workby a group of school governors, staff, parents andvolunteers, as well as community groups. The expertiseand practical assistance of Bolsover WoodlandEnterprise in particular was invaluable. The teamworked mostly during the school holidays to developthe woodland area in the school grounds. Nowcomplete, the facilities include an outdoor classroom,a stage and auditorium, a meadow classroom and asuperb bird hide.The project has been partly funded with an Awards ForAll Grant from the National Lottery.Ramsden Primary’s Deputy Head, Chris Wilson, who has led the woodland project with some of the pupilsand the Green Flag awarded to the school.Hospital casefor Chairman’sChainThe Wood Crafts department, partof the Therapies and EducationDepartment at Rampton Hospital,custom-made a carrying case for theChairman’s ceremonial chain of office.Pauline Munro, CouncillorJeffrey Rickells, Mrs Bullivant,Councillor Ken Bullivant,Councillor Hugh Burton,Gordon Leesley and Ian BaconBishop Paul’swalkaboutThe Rt Rev Paul Butler, Bishopof Southwell and Nottinghamcalled in at the Council’s officesduring his recent walking tourof parts of his diocese. Sam has boughtbooks, entitled Carbs & Cals, which is a visual guide tocarbohydrates and calorie counting. The bulbs were donated by Retford Lions.According to Manager of Parks and Open Spaces,Dave Linley, “The plan was to collect the bulbs fromthe school so that when the schoolchildren came downto the park they would plant them where planned inthe new garden area, adding a splash of colour. ParkRanger, Andy Roworth, who went to both St Swithun’sand St Joseph’s during autumn last year to help thechildren plant up the bulbs into pots, was on hand tohelp, along with the Parks and Open Spaces team.
