Chapter 24: Environment VariablesEnvironment VariablesEnvironment VariablesThe table below provides various environment variables and their definitions:Table 24-1 • Environment VariablesVariableFLEXLM_BATCHDefinition(Windows only) Prevents interactive pop-ups from appearing. Set to 1 if abatch application. (Version 7.0 and later clients)FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICSUsed for debugging where applications do not print error message text. Setto 1, 2, or 3, depending on the amount of diagnostic information desired.See FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS (Version 5.0 and later clients)FLEXLM_TIMEOUT(Windows only) Sets the timeout value a FlexEnabled application useswhen attempting to connect to a license server port in the range of 27000through 27009.Values are in microseconds, within the range of 0 through 2,147,483,647.The default setting is 100,000 microseconds.Note • For security purposes, best practice is not to use a default port for the licenseserver. Instead, specify a port number outside of the range of 27000 through 27009.LM_BINDING_AGENTLM_BINDING_AGENT must be of the form port@host, where port is portnumber in the range of 27010 through 27019, and host is the hostname orIP address of the physical system on which lmbind is running. This physicalsystem can be the hypervisor itself or a remote physical machine thatcommunicates with the virtual machine through this protocol. (Dependingon your network settings, the hostname might need to be a fully-qualifieddomain name.) For example, this variable might look like this:LM_BINDING_AGENT=27011@hostname.example.comLM_BORROWUsed for initiating license borrowing and setting the borrow period. On UNIX platforms, $HOME/.flexlmborrow is used for the registry instead of $HOME/.flexlmrc.LM_LICENSE_FILE orVENDOR_LICENSE_FILEReset path to license file. Can be a license search path, separated by “ : ”on UNIX and “ ; ” on Windows. If VENDOR_LICENSE_FILE used, VENDOR is thevendor daemon name used by this application. For example, FlexeraSoftware products use MVSN_LICENSE_FILE. Can be a file name, orport@host.
