Chapter 9: lmadmin <strong>License</strong> Server ManagerManaging lmadmin from the Command LineTask:To add a vendor daemon from the command line1. Create or locate a valid license file (for example, mylicense.lic) with the appropriate SERVER lines, VENDORlines, and feature definition lines.2. Make sure that the vendor daemon executable is in the correct location relative to lmadmin. This location isdefined in the VENDOR line.3. Import the license file by executing the following command:lmadmin -import where is the path and name of the license file. This command imports the license file, butdoes not start the license server.When you import a license file, the license server configuration file (/conf/server.xml) is populated with the vendor daemon information (vendor name, vendor daemon path, portnumber, etc.).4. Start the license server. See Manually Starting the <strong>License</strong> Server Manager.Note • For information about how to import a license file using the license server management interface, see theonline help available from within the license server management interface.Configuring the <strong>License</strong> File Upload DirectoryThe license file upload directory is the location where copies of license files used by lmadmin are stored whenlicense files are imported using the Import <strong>License</strong> button on the Vendor Daemon Configuration tab or the-import command-line argument.When this location is not configured, the default settings create the following directory structure into which licensefiles are uploaded:...//licenses//For example, on Windows when lmadmin is installed in the default location and two vendor daemons, demo andpublisherA, are being managed by lmadmin, the following directories are created when license files for thesevendor daemons are imported:C:\Program Files\FlexNet Publisher <strong>License</strong> Server Manager\licenses\demoC:\Program Files\FlexNet Publisher <strong>License</strong> Server Manager\licenses\publisherAThe license file that contains license rights for the vendor daemon demo is copied to the ..\demo directory. Thelicense file that contains license rights for the vendor daemon publisherA is copied to the ..\publisherAdirectory.
