+ Context• Archdiocese of Philadelphia: 1.5 million Catholics/68,000 K-12 Catholic School Students• Archdiocese of Los Angeles: 4.6 million Catholics/80,000 K-12 Catholic School Students• If Los Angeles had the same proportion of students to Catholics that Philadelphia has there wouldbe 208,000 students in Catholic schools in Los Angeles.• Key Point #1: We are grossly underserving the Catholic population in LosAngeles with our current Catholic school enrollment.• Quality schools attract parents and students – even in low income areas, a strong leader whocreates and develops a quality program tends to lead to solid enrollment.• Key Point #2: In order to create long term growth and sustainability schoolsneed to have strong leaders who focus on establishing clear Catholic identity,rigorous Academics and active Stewardship.• The original model for the Catholic parochial school is not sustainable in many locations and theadvent of new technologies requires new approaches to how we govern and educate students inCatholic schools.• Key point #3: Catholic schools need to adapt and innovate to meet the needsof the 21 st century family and student. The ways that have worked in the pastwill not in the future so change is a requirement for growth.
