◆◆An organization might impose a ban on prescription medications that impairjudgment, performance, or communication.An organization can be more stringent in setting policies <strong>and</strong> BFOQs for counselingstaff, given the greater need for effective relationships with clients <strong>and</strong>the greater potential for harm.It will be necessary to develop <strong>addiction</strong>-profession-specific st<strong>and</strong>ards thatprovide uniform guidelines for the program manager <strong>and</strong> director, guidelines thatcan support these administrators if they are forced to make difficult choices <strong>and</strong> violatecultural taboos within the profession.
