2 nd Editionmeeting was called may be transacted at suchmeeting.(3) Emergency meetings(a)(b)(c)An emergency meeting may be called by thechairperson, or in his or her absence, by the vicechancellorat any time, provided that members aregiven at least 24 (twenty four) hours’ notice of suchmeeting.Notice of an emergency meeting may be given inany manner convenient under the circumstances.The object of an emergency meeting must be statedto members and no business other than that statedmay be transacted at such meeting.(4) The quorum for all meetings of the council shall be asimple majority of the members of the council, excludingvacancies.16. Procedures of council meetings(1) The council members must participate in the deliberationsof the council in the best interests of the University.(2) Subject to the provisions of this Statute a majority of thepersons holding office as members of the council at thedate of the meeting of the council must form a quorum forsuch meeting and a decision by the majority of members ofthe council present at the meeting thereof must constitutea decision of the council.(3) In the absence of the chairperson, the vice-chairpersonmust act as chairperson of the council and in the absenceof the chairperson and the vice-chairperson of the council,the members present must elect one of their members to20
