French and Latin professor, one of the leaders of the “Cahiers du Cinéma”<br />
team, Eric Rohmer began his directing career in 1959 with “Th e Sign of Leo,”<br />
a fi lm adhering to New Wave principles. In 1962, he started his famous series<br />
of “Six Moral Tales”. In 1980 he started work on a second series of six features<br />
entitled “Comedies and Proverbs”. In 1989, he tackled a third series, “Tales of<br />
the Four Seasons,” which he fi nished in 1998 with “An Autumn Tale.”<br />
