PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSIONJUNE 26, 2012 - 5:00 P.M.The REGULAR MEETING of the Public Utilities Commission of the City of New Ulm,Brown County, Minnesota was duly called and held in the City Hall Council Chambers, on the26` day of June 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Present at said meeting was Commissioners Beranek, Fix,Melville, Swan and President Steinke. Also present at said meeting were Director Gleisner, CityManager Gramentz, Assistant City Attorney Nierengarten, Finance Director Vorwerk and UtilityEngineer Wrase.Commissioner Swan moved to approve the minutes from the Regular Public UtilitiesCommission Meeting held on May 22, 2012. The motion was duly seconded by CommissionerMelville and passed by the unanimous vote of all members.Commissioner Melville moved to receive and order filed the report from the Director ofUtilities regarding utility operations during the month of June 2012. Director Gleisner reviewedthe report and went into detail on Capital Projects in Electric Production; Water DistributionSystem. President Steinke recognized the following individual as "Employee of the Month":Glen Hillesheim, ReliefPlant Operator,Electric Production DepartmentThe motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Beranek and passed by the unanimous vote ofall members.Commissioner Beranek moved to receive and order filed the Comprehensive AnnualFinancial Report for the New Ulm Public Utilities Commission for the fiscal year endedDecember 31, 2011. The motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Fix and passed byunanimous vote of all members.Utility Engineer Wrase summarized the Overhaul Maintenance of the Steam Turbine #4and provided his recommendation. Assistant City Attorney Nierengarten stated that the low biddid not include all the requirements so it needs to be rejected. Jack Lieske, 1910 South PayneStreet, appeared to question if the option for coal fuel will now be dropped forever. UtilityEngineer Wrase responded that bid award for this project only pertains to the turbine overhauland is not related to the fuel source for the boiler. Commissioner Beranek moved to approveawarding the contract for the Overhaul Maintenance of the Steam Turbine #4 to PowerGeneration Service, Inc., the bidder submitting the best overall offer to the New Ulm PublicUtilities, in the amount of $350,440. The lowest bid was not accepted due to not meeting theperformance bond requirements. The motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Fix andpassed by unanimous vote of all members.Commissioner Fix moved to receive the REPORT OF CLAIMS PAID as presented byPresident Steinke in the amount of $2,149, 631.06. Commissioner Melville moved to receive and order paid the REPORT of CLAIMS To BEPAM as presented by President Steinke in the amount of $541,180. 61.
