This year, a newTai Chi class will be held Aug. 13.In the past, these activitieshave been focused on the collegestudent and adult demographicin the area, but many children’sactivities are also held.“In the past, we have had a reallygood turnout at these events,especially the movie nights,”said Melinda Brazzale, LaramieCounty Library’s manager ofcommunity and media relations.Many of the activities hosted thisyear are hands-on such as theBad Art Night on Aug. 11 and theSidewalk Arts Celebration on Aug.6.Jennifer Rife, design andhumanities coordinator at the library,said many of the events aregeared toward young adults.“These events and are beingcoordinated by our adult programmingspecialist, LaurelShelley-Reuss, who is focusing onbringing many activities into thelibrary that are of interest to collegestudents and young adults,”Rife said.The Tai Chi class on Aug. 13,will encourage adults to stretchout, try something new andengage the body and the mindunder local Tai Chi specialistGeoffrey Thompson.For those who are comicbook collectors, or just enjoy theliterature, the library will hostFree Comic Book Day along withHeroes Only Comics <strong>May</strong> 7 from10:30 a.m. to noon. Along withthis, a Comic Art Workshop isavailable on the same day from10:30–11:30 a.m.For those who have childrenand need an activity to expendtheir energy, there are eventsdesigned for children such asDaycare Story Time, Evening Storytime and a Saturday Story Time.“These events welcome parentsto attend, or have a few minutesto themselves while their childrenare being entertained by stories,”Rife said.The library will also host adrop-in Chess Club.Design and humanities coordinatorRife said the library willalso hold a film night dedicatedto Maurice Sendak, author of“Where the Wild Things Are.”“The Sendak film night on June7 is being held in conjunctionwith a large exhibit the LaramieCounty Library is hosting aboutthe life and work of MauriceSendak that will be on display inthe library’s entrance gallery <strong>May</strong>16–June 24,” Rife said.All events are free to thepublic.
