In addition, together with ASTD we visited one of our accredited training providers, the Maccauvlei Learning Academyin Vereeniging to present their staff and learners with the latest South African State of the Learning and DevelopmentReport. Leading consulting firm Ernest & Young also visited the <strong>SABPP</strong> office this month and we thank their seniormanagers for sharing their excitement about the work we are currently doing. In terms of our alliances, we arebuilding these relationships, in particular our most recent alliance, the Skills Confederation in which we partner withthe Association for Skills Development Facilitation of South Africa, as well as the Chartered Institute for theManagement of Assessment Practices. <strong>SABPP</strong> presented papers on learning innovation and best practices at the ASTDAnnual International Conference in the Drakensberg, and also exhibited at this prestigious event of our alliancepartner, ASTD Global Network South Africa. ISPI Southern African chapter also visited our office, and we will soonprovide the market with details about an exciting project around green HR.At a governance and oversight level, I am proud to announce the launch of the <strong>SABPP</strong> labour market committee. Thiscommittee will play a pivotal role in providing more balanced professional perspectives on the labour market, inparticular how it affects the HR profession. The first meeting went very well and our committee members are ready toposition HR as a critical stakeholder in the labour market. A special word of thanks also to our Higher EducationCommittee members for continuing their work in producing graduates for the HR profession.Lastly, but most importantly, the <strong>SABPP</strong> standards and metrics project has now completed phase one of the broadconsultation process, meeting with another group of HR directors. We thank all HR directors for their positive responseand contributions to this exciting national project. Once clear standards are in place, I am sure that we will be able toplay a meaningful role in raising HR professionalism in South Africa. I thank the <strong>SABPP</strong> board, staff, training providersand alliance partners for their support and commitment and contribution in driving the HR profession forward. Theinteraction we have with you as HR professionals, learners, providers and partners inspires the new <strong>SABPP</strong> team togreater heights.2
