LEARNING AND QUALITY ASSURANCEDEPARTMENTETQA ON THE MOVESABPP Accredited Training ProvidersThe ETQA Department held various workshops to supportexisting training providers on SABPP ETQA processers. Theworkshops gave the providers an opportunity to sharetheir concerns allowing them to have a platform to have atwo way transparent communication with SABPP.Feedback from these forums showed that providers werehappy to work in partnership with SABPP; they found theworkshops to be insightful and had learnt more aboutnew developments in the ETQA field. RESEARCH DEPARTMENTNEWS FROM HRRI: RESEARCHAfter a quiet few weeks, while Penny Abbott was finding her feet,HRRI activities are taking off. Penny has finalised new Guidelines forthe range of HRRI publications, also the Author and Copyright policy.HRRI has an ambitious target to load a large number of researcharticles onto the new SABPP website which we hope to launch midyear,so any contributions from members will be appreciated –contact Penny on penny@sabpp.co.za. The 2012 ASTD Survey onTraining and Development will kick off when the questionnaire goesout shortly. The 2012 Womens Report, to be published for WomensDay in August, is currently being written by an eminent team ofresearchers. We will shortly be publishing a Best Practices inRemuneration Report.We have started putting together some case studies in important areas – the first one will be on implementationof HR standards in a mining services company. If you have an interesting case study to contribute, please contactPenny. You don’t have to do the writing if you don’t have time, we can interview you and write it up for you.HRRI has supported the new Labour Market Committee of the SABPP, which met for the first time on March 2nd.Five enthusiastic practitioners convened to discuss how SABPP could make its voice heard on national policymatters and what research areas would be of importance. An important Position Paper on ContingentWorkforces and Decent Work will be issued shortly. If you are interested to be involved in this committee, pleasecontact Penny.Our voice is already reaching a wider audience. On March 7th, while COSATU members were marching in thestreets of our cities, Penny was interviewed on CII Radio for the SABPP views on various labour broking issues.The interviewer thanked us at the end for a balanced and informative view on a very polarised issue.BUDGET SPEECHSABPP has analysed the 2012 National Budget presented in February by the Minister of Finance looking at itfrom an HR perspective.
