PROFESSIONAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT.News from the Registrations DepartmentApplications for professional membership have increased over the last couple of months. Februaryreached a record high of 90 applications. SABPP would like to thank the Registrations Committee fortheir dedication to meet every month in order to evaluate new applications, upgrades and appeals.Whilst the new applications are streaming in the Professional Services Department endeavours toimprove its service to SABPP members in terms of being thorough and efficient. We look forward tothe day when we can assist our members throughan online application to make this process morestreamlined. We would also welcome anysuggestions from our members in order to improveour service to you. A variety of products to assist HRPractitioners with practical tools that can bedownloaded and used immediately is being lookedat. A workshop that will be output driven iscurrently being scheduled to assist in thedevelopment of these tools. SABPP database of member detailsSABPP needs to do a major clean-up of the data that we presently have on each individual member.An audit of our records shows large gaps, particularly in terms of email addresses, current employerand qualifications. We will therefore shortly send to each person a record of the currentinformation we have on you, and ask you to update this for us. This will enable us to targetproducts and services better and to communicate more effectively with you.Pilot Mentorship ProgrammeSABPP will soon be entering into a pilot project with VIP Payroll to refine the mentorship processthat SABPP currently has. A selection of mentees will be taken from VIP’s Industrial Relationsinternship programme matched with a selection of SABPP mentors. We hope to learn from thisproject items like the training of the mentors, the development of the mentee and mentorrelationship, the successes of having a mentor and utilising the mentor selection criteria to assist inthe programme. We hope to launch this project in April 2012.ETHICS TIP-OFFSABPP urges all stakeholders to report any potentialethical risk involving a staff or board member, registeredprofessional, supplier, client or training provider toethics@sabpp.co.za9
