These inputs accountedfor nutrient loading from the contributing watershed over an eight year hydroperiodrecreated from historical data. Watershed model results are summarized as follows:• Lake Lanier Watershed Results –o Nitrogen and phosphorous loads are primarily nonpoint source related• Chattahoochee Watershed –o Point sources are the primary contributors of nitrogen andphosphorous loading in the watershedWhile the Tallapoosa River Basin has not been developed during this round ofregional planning, the Council believes that similar management practices (Section6) are appropriate for the basin in the absence of modeling.For lakes, the multi-year modeling period was used to determine the algal response,in terms of chlorophyll-a, to the nutrient loads at current conditions. The modeledchlrophyll-a levels were compared with existing chlorophyll-a standards for the majorreservoirs along the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers.The modeled chlrophyll-a levelswere compared with existing chlorophyll-a standards for the major reservoirs alongthe Chattahoochee and Flint rivers.
