The crop forecasts, developed bythe University of Georgia, provide a range of irrigation water use under dry, mediumand wet climate conditions based on the acres irrigated for each crop. Incollaboration with industry stakeholders, the University of Georgia also forecastedwater use for the green industry (in-ground, container and low input nurseries andgreenhouse operations). Normal and dry climate conditions were estimated forexisting permitted golf courses through a collaborative analysis by EPD and theGeorgia Golf Course Superintendents Association. For planning purposes, currentdry year estimates were held constant through the planning horizon for golf courses. The agricultural water demands for non-permitted agricultural uses, such as livestockproduction, were estimated for current conditions for EPD through a collaborativeeffort led by the University of Georgia and Albany State University. The livestockestimates represent the water used to raise livestock, not including processingfacilities. The non-permitted agricultural use information reflects strong coordinationbetween EPD and these water users. Projected water use forecasts for livestockagricultural use were not developed for this effort due to lack of available data.Furthermore, data did not include geographic or water source information and thuscould not be utilized in EPDs resource assessment modeling. The livestock use wastherefore not included in the aggregate dry year agricultural forecasts for resourceassessment purposes. The agricultural demand for the planning period is shown inTable 4-2.MIDDLE CHATTAHOOCHEE05.02.2011Georgia State-wide Water Management Plan 4-5
