Addressing Water Needs andRegional Goals• Alabama forecasted demands• Coordination needs with other councils, particularly the Upper Flint, LowerFlint-Ochlockonee, and the Metropolitan North Georgia Water PlanningDistrictDespite these uncertainties, the Council proceeded with plan development based onthe best information currently available. The Council recognizes that, per the StatewideWater Plan, the Regional Water Plan will be reviewed and revised every fiveyears allowing the Council to adapt the plan to any resolution and/or increasedknowledge of the uncertainties identified.6.1.1. Review of Existing Plans and PracticesThe <strong>Middle</strong> <strong>Chattahoochee</strong> Regional Water Planning Council conducted acomprehensive review of existing local and regional water management plans andrelevant related documents to frame the selection of management practices. Whenpossible, successful management practices already planned for and/or in use in theregion formed the basis for the water management practices selected by the Council.In addition, recommended actions were selected so as not to conflict with otherexisting state or regional plans. A summary of the local and regional plans reviewedis provided as the Existing Regulatory and Local Plan Summary supplementaldocument on the <strong>Middle</strong> <strong>Chattahoochee</strong> website. 16.2. Selected Water Management Practices for the <strong>Middle</strong><strong>Chattahoochee</strong> RegionThe management practices selected by the Council are summarized in Table 6-1and categorized into water quantity, instream use, and water quality managementpractices. The Council selected the water quantity and water quality managementpractices to apply to the whole <strong>Middle</strong> <strong>Chattahoochee</strong> water planning region.Although the region’s boundaries cross multiple surface water and groundwaterresources, the Council believes that the management practices will be beneficial toall of these resources and that within the region, issues across different waterresources are similar enough that the selected practices are appropriate to beapplied across the whole region.MIDDLE CHATTAHOOCHEEA discussion of the management practices follows the table.
