BYE-ELECTIONS TO THE BOARD OF THENATIONAL TRUSTNominations for election of three members to the Board of National Trust were invited throughletters as well as advertisement on 18th December, 2007 from 710 registered organizations inthe category of Association of Persons with Disabilities - one from the area of Cerebral Palsyand two from Multiple Disabilities under National Trust Rule 3(3). The terms of appointmentof three Board Members in above categories expired on 8.4.2008. The last date for submissionof nominations in National Trust office was 6th February, 2008 upto 5.00 PM.Accordingly, valid nominations were received as per the following details: -Category (c) Areas of working Total valid nominations receivedAssociation of Persons Cerebral Palsy 3with Disabilities Multiple Disabilities 1THENATIONALTRUSTAs one nomination was found valid in the category of multiple disabilities for filling in 2vacancies, no elections, therefore was required for this category and the candidate was declaredelected by Returning Officer as follows: -1. Shri Kishore Mohan BhattacharyaAs one vacancy remained unfilled the matter was taken to the Board in its 30th meeting forinformation and nomination of a suitable person to fill the said vacancy in multiple disabilityarea. The Board nominated Shri Zamir Dhale as Board Member against this vacancy incompliance with Rule 3(5) of National Trust Rules, 2000.Elections through Postal ballot were held in the category of Association of Persons withDisabilities working in the area of Cerebral Palsy. Ms. Jija Ghosh, nominated by Indian Instituteof Cerebral Palsy, Kolkata was declared elected by the Returning Officer in this category.The whole election process was completed as per schedule mentioned in the letter of invitation.The election of Shri Kishore Mohan Bhattacharya and Ms. Jija Ghosh was put up on websiteand Notice Board of National Trust and was conveyed to the Ministry of Social Justice &Empowerment for Notification in the official Gazette of India.The Nomination of Shri Zamir Dhale by the Board is being conveyed to the Ministry forNotification in the official Gazette of India. The members elected to the Board of NationalTrust pursuant to this bye-election shall have a tenure expiring on 9.12.2009 so as to be coterminuswith the tenure of existing members.2
