13. Discuss prejudice <strong>and</strong> help confront it. To start, think of these issues:<br />

15. Sometimes it is difficult to say “no” to sex<br />

or to delay sex. The guidelines below may help<br />

you with these decisions.<br />

Write in the boxes (E) <strong>for</strong> those things you<br />

would find easy to do <strong>and</strong> (D) <strong>for</strong> those things<br />

you would find difficult to do<br />

■ 1 Go to parties <strong>and</strong> other events with friends.<br />

■ 2 Decide how far you want to “go” (your<br />

sexual limits) be<strong>for</strong>e being in a pressure situation.<br />

■ 3 Decide your alcohol/drug limits be<strong>for</strong>e<br />

being in a pressure situation.<br />

■ 4 Avoid falling <strong>for</strong> romantic words <strong>and</strong><br />

arguments.<br />

■ 5 Be clear about your limits – don’t give<br />

mixed messages, e.g. by acting sexy when you<br />

do not want sex.<br />

■ 6 Pay attention to your feelings; when a<br />

situation becomes uncom<strong>for</strong>table, leave.<br />

■ 7 Get involved in activities (e.g. sports,<br />

clubs, hobbies).<br />

● What is prejudice?<br />

● Have you ever felt someone was prejudiced against you? Why? Your age, religion, other<br />

reasons? How did you feel?<br />

Create a poster against prejudice towards people living with <strong>HIV</strong> or <strong>AIDS</strong>. If December 1st is near,<br />

make it a World <strong>AIDS</strong> Day poster. Share your poster with your group. Find a place to display your<br />

poster in the sports club or at school.<br />

14. Talk to a local community association that works in <strong>AIDS</strong>. Ask them what change is<br />

needed in your community to help people living with <strong>HIV</strong> or <strong>AIDS</strong>. Write a short letter or make a<br />

petition on the subject <strong>and</strong> ask your group to sign it with you. Give it to the community association<br />

to send to the right decision-maker.<br />
