Junee High SchoolPrincipal’s Message…Thank you for the year pastI would like to take this opportunity to thank thestudents and staff of Junee High School for all thework that was so successfully completed in <strong>20</strong>12. Ourstaff are already well aware that we intend making<strong>20</strong>13 even more successful and challenging for ourstudents.Thank you also to our parents, carers and the widercommunity, who have continued to give overwhelmingsupport to Junee High School throughout <strong>20</strong>12.There is a vote of thanks and appreciation that must begiven to the school's P&C, a small band of tirelessworkers who have continuously demonstrated theirdetermination to ensure that the school is wellsupported. I would like to particularly thank theoutgoing P&C executive for their commitment to theschool, Mrs Janelle Martin (President) and MareeAllamby (Secretary). Maree Wright has done a splendidjob this year and generously stayed on in the role ofTreasurer for <strong>20</strong>13.Presentation NightPlease join us at our Presentation Night which is onTuesday 18 <strong>December</strong> starting at 7:30pm. It is ourmost important school event in the year as wecelebrate our students’ success in all its shapes andforms.Staff FarewellsWe thank most sincerely Mrs Alison Jaszczyk and MrsLisa Kells for their many years of dedicated andprofessional service to Junee High School. Their leavingis bitter sweet; we celebrate their marvellous careersand wish them all the very best in the future but wealso recognise that their leaving us is a significant lossin experience and knowledge.We farewell our Music teacher Mr Chris Fish, who istaking a year’s sabbatical. We wish him well in hisendeavours over the next twelve months. We alsofarewell and thank, Miss Kathleen Neil, Mr GeoffAllen and Mrs Erin Gibson who have been wonderfuladditions to our staff in <strong>20</strong>12. We wish them all thevery best in the future. We trust you remember yourtime at Junee High with fondness.Farewell to students and families who areleaving usTo all those students who are leaving us at the end ofthe year, whether from Year 7, Year 12 or any yeargroup in between, our very best wishes go with you asyou approach your future lives in work, further study orin new schools as your families move to new homesaround Australia.New Deputy Principal and Head TeacherTASThe newly appointed Deputy Principal Mr TerryVercoe is looking very forward to returning to his oldschool in this new role. Mr Vercoe is determined tosupport our continued improvement as we approachthe school’s future with growing confidence anddetermination.We also welcome our new Head Teacher TAS, MrPhilip Ronald. Mr Ronald brings a huge amount ofknowledge and appreciation of the worlds of work andeducation. He is managing seventy apprentices in hispresent role. He is sure to be able to blend hisexpertise and experience with his faculty and theschool to make some significant changes to the waywe manage the challenge of providing the very besteducational opportunities for our students.<strong>20</strong>13 School <strong>Newsletter</strong>sWe are conscious of the need to maintain quality,reduce unnecessary waste but also hold down costs inthe production of our school newsletter in <strong>20</strong>13.From <strong>20</strong>13 we will be sending an e-copy of ournewsletter to all families who have supplied us with anemail address and to every student, Years 7 to 12.We will also provide a hardcopy of the newsletter bymail to any families who would prefer this to electroniccopies. The cost of this service will be $<strong>20</strong>.00 for theyear; sufficient to recover the costs of publication andmailing.We will also continue to provide copies of thenewsletter at the Newsagent, Co-op and MedicalCentre. (We sincerely thank each of these businessesfor making this possible.)Page 3


Junee High SchoolWith Much ThanksI wish to express my personal appreciation to threemembers of the teaching staff who have madeenormous contributions to our school over the pastfew years while we have been waiting for thepermanent appointments to key positions.Mr Mark Turner, has made a significant sacrifice tomost admirably perform the relieving Deputy Principalrole for the past 2½ years. He committed himself tothe staff and students, ensuring the continuous qualitymanagement of the day-to-day operation of theschool. It was not a position he sought and as such theeffort and energy he put into the role wasextraordinarily generous.Year <strong>11</strong> Hospitality Create Cake toFarewell Year 12A group of Year <strong>11</strong> Hospitality students combined theircreative skills to design, bake, ice and decorate a caketo be cut at the Year 12 Farewell Dinner. The cakesignifies a formal part of the dinner where the Year 12students are wished all the best for their future.Congratulations to Kayla Wright, Ben Hogarth, KeelyHancock and Kara Hancock for their lovely rich mudcake creation that all those at the dinner appreciated.Both Mrs Merrin Glasgow and Mrs Robyn Pattersonhave also committed themselves to supporting staff,student and school in respectively completing therelieving roles Head Teacher TAS/CAPA and HeadTeacher Science. Again, neither sought permanentexecutive roles and as such their efforts are greatlyappreciated.Merry Christmas and Happy New YearWe wish all our families a Merry Christmas and aHappy New Year. May your Christmas break bring youboth the pleasure of your family’s company and theopportunity to replenish yourself so that you might setand achieve even higher goals in <strong>20</strong>13. We certainlylook forward to working together with you in the yearsahead.Girls’ Education DayCreators of the Year 12 Farewell Cake.JHS <strong>20</strong>13 Calendar for saleMs JonesHospitalityOn Monday 10 <strong>December</strong> a Girls’ Education Day washeld for girls in Years 7 to 10. It was very well receivedby all those who participated. There were a myriad ofworkshops on everything from body image torelaxation techniques, beauty make-up, ceramics, thedangers of social media and even self-defence werealso covered. The success of the day can be measuredby the call by the girls to have even more such days inthe future. Thank you to Miss Fritsch, Miss Mackay andAmy Boylan for organising this wonderful day.Don’t miss out on a copy of the JHS <strong>20</strong>13 Calendarwith important school dates and events.
