— Baker Hostetler serves as Washington, D.C., counsel toMajor League Baseball, a partnership that began nearly100 years ago, including drawing up the charter for theAmerican League.— A project finance team led by Cleveland partnersrepresented the owner/developer of a mill, SeverCorr,and the promoters of the transaction, which wasselected as the “North American Industrial Deal of theYear” award sponsored by Project Finance magazine.The deal was one of the largest industrial projectfinancing deals undertaken nationwide in 2005.— In a David v. Goliath case, Polo Ralph Lauren soughtto stop the use of the United States Polo Association’smarks depicting two mounted polo players playing withmallets in hand. With Baker Hostetler in its defense,the U.S. Polo association fought against the multibilliondollar Polo Ralph Lauren empire—and won.— Our governmental relations work around the worldon behalf of multinational clients is a distinguishingfeature of Baker Hostetler. Program StructureSince our summer program is designed to give lawstudents exposure to many facets of the Firm’s practice,summer associates attend conferences, “Lunch-and-Learn”practice group sessions, depositions, trials and other courtproceedings, labor arbitrations, administrative proceedingsand business transaction closings. We closely monitor workassignments to ensure that summer associates work onmultiple projects and with a variety of lawyers in differentpractice areas.Throughout the summer program, lawyers review completedwork with the summer associates.
