N,C. board ofarchitectureThe North Carolina Board of Architecture, established by the General Assembly in1915, is responsible for enforcement of the laws and regulations governing thepractice of architecture in the state. A major task is to determine the qualifications ofapplicants who seek licensure in this state.The Board is comprised of seven members appointed by the Governor, five of whomare licensed architects appointed for five-year terms.Two of the members of the Boardare not licensed architects and represent the interests of the public at large. The publicmembers serve at the pleasure of the Governor.In order to qualiff for a license to practice architecture in North Carolina, an applicantmust meet the following minimum requirements:1) An accredited professional degree in architectureZ) Three year internshipf) Pass all divisions of the ARE (Architectural Registration Examination)The current board members are:Charles H. To be eligible for NCARB certification, architects must submit satisfactoryevidence that they comply with the standard for education, training, examination andcharacter and have been registered by a member board.The NCARB will, upon request of an individual architect, secure, authenticate, andrecord factual data of the applicant's education, training, practice and character. Thisrecord will be forwarded to any state board upon request of the applicant.Certification shall be given to an applicant holding a council record verifying that theapplicant has complied with the council's standards of education, training, practiceand character; and that the applicant has passed an examination conforming to thecouncil's standards of content, extent and length of time.Certification by the NCARB is recommendation to all registration authorities thatregistration be granted to the holder without further examination.
