Abrasive TypesALUMINIUM OXIDE A/O – ZMD ALOXMost popular for general applications, mild steel, low carbon steel and other ferrous metals.Good performance and economical. Fast Cutting and long life. Available in Lantuck (edge wearresistance) and X-Cloth (flexibility) lamination. Can be used on flat or contoured surfaces.CoatedAbrasivesALUMINIUM OXIDE A/O PLUS – ZMD ALOX PLUSEconomic product for use on steel and alloys, aluminium and heat-sensitive metals.Supersized coating with grinding aids running cooler and more efficiently.ZIRCONIA – ZMD ZIRHigh stock removal on coarse grits, performs well on stainless steel. Zirconia’s inherentfeature of cooler cutting when grinding makes it a much more durable and hard wearinggrain than aluminium oxide and less likely to discolour stainless steel. Use heavy pressurefor optimum performance.ZIRCONIA PLUS – ZMD ZIR PLUSHigh stock removal with cool action on stainless steel, titanium and nimonics. Supersizedcoating with grinding aids running cooler and more efficiently. High pressure required to getoptimum performance.CERAMIC – ZMD CERAMICMicron size particles break off during grinding producing many, new, self sharpening cuttingpoints. Very high and fast stock removal on exotic and hard alloys, stainless steel and titanium.Outlasts A/O and Zirconia in many applications. Runs cooler than conventional A/O and Zirconia.CERAMIC FIBRE – ZMD FIBRE CERAMICThe fibre backing makes this product a tough performing disc resisting tearing which allows theproduct to perform to its optimum. Ceramic is perfect for those applications that require a firmaggressive disc and rapid stock removal. High pressure required for optimum performance.FLEXBRITE (NON WOVEN) – ZMD SCMA non-woven synthetic fibre mesh, impregnated with abrasives and bound with resins – forsurface preparation applications such as de-burring, blending, cleaning and corrosion removal. This versatile disc can blend weld seams, remove imperfections on metal surfaces and is idealfor creating decorative finishes. Designed for use where stock removal is not required. There are three colour coded grades available:• Brown – Coarse (K46-K60)• Maroon – Medium (K80-K120)• Blue – Fine (K180-K240)For these types see FLEXBRITE section.UNITIZED DISCSConstructed from compressed non woven web, specialised resin and grain to produce highperformance finishing products. Excellent for light deburring of flashing and threads, blendingalloys, polishing & finishing. Unitized discs are used widely in the preparation of metal surfaces.Unitized discs hold their shape well and do not undercut or gouge which limits accidentaldamage to the component. For these types see FLEXBRITE section.STRIPPA DISCS – ZMD STRIPPA DISCSNylon webbing construction provides a unique combination of aggressive performance, long life and improved finish. Ideal for surface refinishing, cleaning and blending andis a cost effective and safer alternative to a wire wheel. Excellent for rust, paint, scale& coatings removal on a variety of substrates including metal, stone, wood & plastics.Essential maintenance tool in shipyards, heavy plant engineering, steelworks and construction.Particularly efficient in Automotive After Market for removal of fillers and paint stripping. Also use with 75mm Blue Holder for cost efficient, versatile Quick Change maintenance producton a 115mm angle grinder with an M14 thread. For these types see FLEXBRITE section. For these types see FLEXBRITE section.85
