INTRODUCTIONStatement of PurposeThis book is offered to the Christian public with the hope that it willanswer ten arguments which have been spread across our nation evenunto the lands beyond the seas. These ten arguments claim that it is both<strong>Biblical</strong> and right for true Christians who believe their <strong>Bible</strong> tocooperate in doing the work of the Lord with those who, while travelingunder the title of “Christian,” deny the inspiration of the Scriptures, thevirgin birth of Christ, His bodily resurrection, and the like.The ten arguments here analyzed are to be heard today in seminaryhalls, churches, and across a myriad of Christian living rooms. They arechampioned by those who are called, “New Evangelicals”—for thesecry constantly that the right way to evangelize the lost is a “new” way,i.e., one in which the cooperation of those who disbelieve thefundamentals of the Historic Christian Faith is welcomed and evensought out. Thus “Cooperative [with liberal and neo-orthodoxtheologians] Evangelism” is the mode of winning the lost which theyadvocate.While the ten arguments which form the subject of this work arefound on the lips of men and women in every Christian walk of life—puzzling some, attracting others—I have thought it best to study them asthey are actually advocated in written form by one New Evangelicalauthor. This seemed better than to constantly claim, “They say . . .,”without being able to point to one unified source for my claims.Therefore, I have selected as a representative spokesman of this group,Dr. Robert O. Ferm, and I have considered ten of the claims which he6
